R'n'B-pop diva Beyonce Knowles, "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson and Grammy Award-winning artist James Taylor are just some of the artists tapped by re-elected U.S. president Barack Obama to perform the country's most patriotic songs during his upcoming inauguration ceremony on January 21. Beyonce is chosen to deliver the U.S. national anthem "The Star Spangled Banner", Kelly is selected to sing "My Country 'Tis of Thee" and James is invited again to perform "America the Beautiful".

I will not watch....
Yup, Kelly switched from Ron Paul. Go figure?
Frame all this anti-2nd banter as “Radical left wing extremists agenda”. Stop the BORV’s. (Bill of Rights Violators!)
And he will take the oath using two Bibles — Lincoln’s and MLK, Jr.’s. No Koran, because Islam permits takkiya.
I’m hoping for a marathon of something like The Walking Dead.
Probably will pop in some “I Love Lucy” dvd’s. Much better viewing and a sight funnier than what will be going on in D.C. that morning. Or, since the 21st is a holiday, I’ll probably still be in the rack sawing logs.
I’m sure it’s because all of the uneducated, racist, obama voters are going to rush right out and buy her music. WTH is wrong with her? She will be turning off a large segment of her music—I hope they fluch her down the toilet now.
Well, it is in the nature of people to ally with the strong.
When it comes to it, you are either with them, or against them.
It’s hard for me to understand why anyone would ally with republicans or even the right as they have showed nothing but weakness. They will lose.
Who wants to be on the losing team, I wonder?
I would rather think of it terms of which side is right and which wrong.
An ethical person stands on the side of righteousness, or as close to righteousness as is reasonable. The reasoning you present as normative is unethical and based merely on the moment.
Kelly Clarkson did not ask. She was sent an official invitation. You really can’t say no. I know in the military that if you receive an invitation to the White House, you WILL go. It is mandatory. Although Kelly is not in the military, I don’t think saying no to a formal invitation is a good idea. It is actually rude to decline an invitation to the White House. Remember it is the office, not the person. I was part of the Inauguration of President Clinton’s 1996 Inaugural and went to the Inaugural Balls....That is what military folks do.
The Dixie Chicks were the last “country” singers to be hurt by their political statements. We were in a war that the public supported and they smeared the president on foreign soil.
This won’t hurt Clarkson. As I understand it Faith Hill and Tim McGraw are pretty left leaning and it hasn’t hurt them. I also heard Brad Paisley’s wife is a lefty. Personally, I couldn’t stand living with a one.
Watch the inauguration, there will be plenty of walking dead...
Clarkson endorsed Obama before the election, because of his support of homosexual marriage.
Or better get, if the weather cooperates, I won't stay home.
Especially when you're very likely going to get a healthy fee from the gig. As much as anything, it's probably a business decision.
Gay marriage is clearly the most pressing matter for our country. /s
Good point.
Who wants to be on a team at all?
Beyonce will be about white by then. She is going heavy in the lighting process of her skin. Of course, she may have to wear some dark makeup to please the brothers. She is a leftist through and through. Kelly, should stay away-Be sick. Imo.
Kelly Clarkson Endorses Obama, Citing President's Gay Marriage Stance
Are there ethical Americans?
Are moral Americans?
If so, how many?
The evidence that I presented is human nature.
I believe that I am ethical and moral, but I no longer wish to ally with republicans, because not only are they not ethical and moral, they are weak. I will not ally with Obama, because he is the Devil.
I have had to ally with myself because I am pretty much alone as far as I can see.
This is about guaranteeing a larger physical audience. Recent news reports about low interest and potentially embarrassing small crowds lead to this sort of action.
People with nothing else to do who otherwise enjoy the music will show up. Beyonce and Clarkson will pull the desired diverse audience. Pics will be taken. Numbers will be exaggerated. Nothing will be questioned.
It’s all about optics.
—>>Clarkson endorsed Obama before the election, because of his support of homosexual marriage.
Did not know this.
Both sides are wrong.
One side is evil and the other side stands for nothing, effect nothing and is of no consequence whatsoever.
Well, the left will throw a line on one issue or another and snag as many as they can.
The right...throws no lines at all.
It’s easy to see which side is going to prevail based upon tactical analysis.
I might reply with something like, "shove it, commie." If I was a public figure, I'd say something less provocative, but with wording that would get the same point across.
Clarkson wants to have a successful career in Hollywood and it's a liability to be a conservative, social Republican.
She sold out her principles in order to make it in Hollyweird.
It doesn’t surprise me that she endorsed him. She is just pandering to her fan base. The majority of pop music fans are young, and the majority of America’s youth like Obama. Being for Ron Paul and then Obama shows her pandering to young voters, as they are polar opposites.
It’s quite easy to be tough behind an anonymous name on the internet.
Maybe Kelly C. could have a fall and have a concussion. It seems to be going around as of late. And it’s perfectly acceptable to the press and the American public.
Another 0bama Pop Fest: 0bamapalooza.
Thanks for the smile this morning.
Have a good day.
Kelly has been an Obama support for the last 5 years.
In the entertainment business, “To Get Along, You Go Along.”
Lining Up For The Inauguration
Hat Tip: Curmudgeonly & Skeptical
I am afraid I disagree. Military people report to the president. They are subject to military rule and volunteered to do so.
The rest of us are citizens.
We have choice. We are not subjects of a king and we have will and choice. No one owns us.
We do not take orders from a king. We agree to obey laws and help make them. It is not rude to decline any invitation as a citizen. No one is compelled to perform in this country. So far there is no king...
In this country, it’s a liability to be any kind of republican.
Whatever reasons factor in to her individual decision, she allied with the strong majority and not the weak minority.
The people she intends to sell music to are not conservative. Maybe a few of them are, but they are of no consequence. If she were to ally with say, Mitt Romney, she would be boycotted.
The left is dominant, the right is submissive.
It will remain that way until we change it.
If I was an entertainer, public figure who makes money from popularity, would I rather be seen as a friend of Obama or a friend of Lindsay Graham?
How about John McCain?
John Boehaner?
Mitch McConnel?
Here’s a tough one. Does the entertainer want to be seen with Obama or Sarah Palin?
Those who require strength in numbers.
I am not such a person.
No, she is a true believer. She is part of the team.
Money, flash and ‘popularity’ are irresistibly seductive for a lot of people especially the young, ethically deficient or fragile and the ill-educated.
If you have no core values, no individuality or strength of conviction... you are easy prey for this tidal wave of Liberal populism.
How faux, temporary, shallow and fraudulent it is will escape you.
But never mind, because telling a whore shes a whore is never easy or productive. They really ought to enjoy themselves now while they can.
The pendulum will swing the other way soon enough. (I have this fantasy that authenticity, merit, intellect and character will return to style before I die).
“I also heard Brad Paisleys wife is a lefty”
She is an Actress, so it’s a given.
I'm retching.
I think he and Beyonce are havin an affair hmmmmmmm
We have choice. We are not subjects of a king and we have will and choice. No one owns us.

Exactly. I have only so much respect for the office of the president, no matter who is occupying it. After all, that person is a public citizen SERVANT, not someone who is automatically and mysteriously elevated above us all. At the moment, my respect for the office is at absolute zero, and I would have no problem declining an invitation from Obama. In fact, I would take distinct pleasure in doing so.
I did not watch that cheap circus in 2009.....
so, I will not watch this year...
“An ethical person stands on the side of righteousness, or as close to righteousness as is reasonable. The reasoning you present as normative is unethical and based merely on the moment.”
Thank you for saying that! In our present times, we will find our true character, our true worth. It has been this way throughout history, whether for martyr or for warrior or for simple citizen.
May God be with us in such a time as this.
Who are these people? Are they important to me? (I didn’t think so)
Where did I first read this? On FR? (I have it taped to my computer)
“Presidents are stewards of this country.
It is not their task to remake it in their own image.
It is not the task of a politician to remake America.
It is not their right to remake this nation — to reflect their psychology.”
