In their competition in the 2000 Democrat primary for Illinois’ first congressional district Bobby Rush had deftly whitewashed Barack as a creature of white culture – of his white mother and his white grandparents, his white girlfriends and his white and Jewish advisors and benefactors far from the gritty South Ward in rich-and-comfortable Hyde Park. “He went to Harvard and became an educated fool!” declared Bobby Rush, adding: “We’re not impressed with these folks with these eastern elite degrees.” Rush had whipped Obama 59.37% to 29.45%. When Barack had spoken to black congregations in the South Ward, his rambling dissertations in impeccable upper-class English had failed to connect.

Interesting that Obama uses his African-American Christian wife as a “bridge” to the black community. Is that because he is ethnically and culturally much more inclined to lean towards arabs and moslems?
