Gun control put on fast track in D.C., Connecticut
The CT Mirror ^

As the Obama administration hurries to develop new federal gun restrictions, the Connecticut General Assembly is placing gun legislation on a fast track in the wake of the Newtown school shootings, creating a special committee with an eye toward passage of some legislation in February.

House Speaker J. Brendan Sharkey, D-Hamden, said the committee, whose creation has not been finalized or formally announced, will work toward "a relatively rapid bipartisan consensus, and then look to have a special day in our session, probably toward the end of February."

The committee likely will consist of the Democratic co-chairs and the ranking Republican members of a half-dozen relevant standing committees, such as Judiciary, Public Safety, Public Health, Children, Education and Human Services.

Sen. Joan Hartley, D-Waterbury, the co-chair of the Public Safety Committee, confirmed the plan for the special committee at a meeting of the Public Safety Committee.

The breadth of the committees involved indicates that the legislature intends to follow the example of Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, who created a special commission to examine issues of gun control, mental health and school safety. Malloy says his commission should not cause legislators to delay their own response.

Vice President Biden, who is leading a similar federal effort in Washington, said Thursday that he promised President Obama that his Newtown task force will recommend action next week.

"I have committed to him that I will have the recommendations to him by Tuesday," Biden said.

Biden spoke Wednesday by phone with Malloy.

"I had a great conversation yesterday with Vice President Biden," Malloy said Thursday on MSNBC's "Morning Joe." He praised the federal approach, while declining to share specifics. "I think he's got it down pretty well."

Malloy, who opened the 2012 session of the General Assembly with a State of the State address largely focused on Newtown, said the political landscape on guns has been permanently altered by the Dec. 14 murders of 26 children and educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown.

"It's a world of difference since Dec. 14," Malloy said on MSNBC.

Biden offered the same sentiment in Washington.

"Every once in a while something raises the consciousness of the nation," Biden said Wednesday as he opened a meeting with advocates of gun control and survivors of shootings at Virginia Tech and Aurora, Colo.

Ask them how those "gun free zones" worked out for them.

What very few people are discussing is the fact that all the elected officials looking for more gun control, are planing to do so BEFORE any final report on the events at Sandy Hook are known.

These rules have never been about reducing crime, or making a safe environment. These traitors are not gathering to respond to a school shooting. They are gathered to complete their dictatorial take over.

I’m glad I left that place. It’s a shame to see my friends (Who all called me crazy) to be stuck there.

"Every once in a while something raises the consciousness of the nation"

Yep, unintended consequences; let's get rid of the NFA and GCA.

Survivors of Virginia Tech
Surviviors of Aurora Colo.

Besides automatic firearms , what else do they have in common ?
The perp was on psychiatric medication !!
The perp had known psychiatric problems.!!
At the same time that Cuomo wants to prevent automatic weapons , he IGNORES the psychiatric issues which led up to the incidents.
New York is still trying to remove psychiatric patients out of State facilities , and bring them back in the community.

Which is more important , preventing legal persons from defending themselves , or “ Mainstreaming “ phychiatric patients back into the community ?

These are traitors who are using the shooter rampages as a means to pump their image up to the zero imformation public. The zero imformation public thinks this is an issue of gun availability when it is the lack of gun availability that allows the street terrorist to operate without consequence.

matt04~:” ( Title of Article)” Gun control put on fast track in D.C., Connecticut “.

The reason why on ‘fast track’ is for the ‘low information voters’ and ‘sheeples’, whose source of information only comes from the TV lamestream media.
You know its ‘fast track’ because the emotions rule !!

Interesting thing I found last night looking for the pdf of Total Resistance- The Connecticut Survivalist Alliance. I thought it was all a bunch of liberals up there.
Anyway, I guess not everybody up that way is neutered.

Notice how the ONLY people calling for gun control are the far-left in the media and in politics.

Meanwhile, the general pubic is stocking up on guns and ammo and joining the NRA.

“rapid bipartisan consensus”

Ct is an overwhelming blue state. bipartisan means two democrats agreeing

A few weeks before Sandy Ct voted down a mental health bill at the behest of the ACLU.

The corrupt Malloy can pass anything he likes.

“Gun control put on fast track in D.C., Connecticut”

Connecticut’s legislature is controlled by the ‘rats, so it’s almost certain that whatever they propose -will- get passed into law, and immediately signed by the governor.

What happens after that is anyone’s guess.

Even Cuomo in New York state may have problems getting something passed, because the NY State Senate is still [barely] under Republican control. Not saying it can’t happen there, but the odds are more difficult, as distinguished from CT, where there will be little opposition.

Connecticut will get “full-bore” gun control before any other state or the feds get it.

He does not have a clue. Actions have consequences.

Putting people in a gun free zone is like putting a de-clawed kitten in an alley.

There’s a report out there which claims it took cops 20 minutes to respond. What are the facts anybody know ? I have noticed in these cases police response time if swift is usually pointed out this case doesn’t seem to have that boast.

I suggest people send their legislators thistles. The real flower, if possible, or facsimiles if your area is out of season.

I live in CT. Besides the media, hardly anyone is calling for more gun control in public. The ones that are think the AR in AR-15 means assault rifle.
