Despite the fact that so-called assault weapons are rarely involved in gun violence, the gun-grabbers are calling for them to be banned. Why? Precisely because it won't accomplish anything. So they will then call for all semi-automatic weapons to be banned. And that won't reduce gun violence either. So then they will call for revolvers and multiple-shot weapons to be banned. And on and on and on.

Liberals promote failed policies for two reasons. The first is exemplified by liberal support for socialism - they simply believe it hasn't been tried hard enough. The second is exemplified by gun control - liberals promote a policy clearly intended to fail because it is not their ultimate end point.
