For instance hollow-point bullets which used to sell at Central Texas Gun Works for $15 dollars a box 30 days ago -- now costs more than $30...

"Anyone that's coming in, taking a concealed handgun class, we'll sell ammo to them. But we're not selling any ammo to any outside people," Cargill said.

Exactly. Everyone’s seemingly in “buy & conserve mode”, right now.

Most assuredly. I practice with .38 not .357. Use 20-30 target grade 9mm.

Interestingly, I got a crosman CO2 pellet pistol that resembles a Colt Python. I make the same mistakes with it I do with a real pistol, so its good cheap practice to wait out the current shortage.

Try finding small pistol primers. I made the mistake of letting myself get down to a couple thousand and I can’t find any from my regular suppliers.

Primers are the things that become impossible to find whenever an ammo shortage hits. Given that primers will last for decades when stored in the proverbial "cool, dry place", there's much to be said for the practice of buying a few thousand, stashing them in an ammo can with some desiccant packs, and just putting them away for a rainy day.

Yep, I don’t look so stupid now, started collecting in 1997 & finished by 2000. Called stupid & tinfoil-ready a few times here on FR..../snicker

Over the years, routine random sampling (by myself and my Grandsons) from many, many different cases has shown no degradation in performance.

Seems like if you can read the handwriting (warning) on the wall, it is already too late.

America should see a ripe opportunity here to start building ammunition factories in every “red” state. Texas alone could have dozens, its not difficult to start an ammunition company, it just requires a chain of supplies, the right grade of brass to be pressed into rounds, the materials to make the bullets even if only copper and the components of the primers and powder.

Its capitalism at its best in a free country, build more factories before the Muslim in Chief forbids it.

I have a few thousand in a cool dry place, it’s time to use them and the replacements aren’t available. It makes me unhappy.
