Economist and humorist Ben Stein placed the responsibility of gun violence on Monday squarely on a media culture that shows guns resolving problems. I dont really think, with all due respect, that guns are the problem. Im sure Im going to get a lot of hate mail for saying this, he said. It has to do, in my humble opinion, with how much people are brainwashed by Hollywood into thinking that the solution to all their problems is a gun.
He continued, slamming violent video games: After a while, I think, the distraction between the imaginary and real is blurred and they think, well, again, the solution to my problem I feel like an insignificant nothing the solution to my problems is to kill lots of people. The former speechwriter for President Richard Nixon also said the nations fiscal situation was hopeless, and it was time for brave, kamikaze-type action where lawmakers risk their careers to save our country.

Guns are NOT the issue. Everyone needs to shut up and especially quit writing inflammatory rhetoric. You're just opening yourself up to getting set up for a manipulation event. We MUST get the subject BACK on the fiscal problems looming over this nation.
First intelligent thing that ASs had said in ages!
Anti-life criminals/totalitarians ARE the problem. Socialists/collectivists/statists (totalitarian wannabees) ARE NOT the solution.
Wake up ‘mericans.
Without regard to the few whackos, the solution to the vast majority of violent crimes requires criminal management solutions, not gun control.
Good for Ben.
Hollywood weenies have a complex about what it is to be a confident man.
Fence in a few of the ‘historically’ (D) controlled cities might a starting plave...just sayin :)
When I go to the range it is usually Family’s and meet and greets.
We spend more time yakking and eating than shooting.
When the odd dude shows up dressed in paramilitary gear, they get the stink eye.
Ben is a Union loving semi-liberal but occasionally he does get it right. He has some good ideas but tends to be persuaded by his liberal Hollywood buddies too much. Nice to see that in this instance, he is on the right side.
A few rum & cokes and my spelling suffers....sigh!
Half of all murders are black on black, usually drug or gang related. 70% of all black children are born out of wedlock.
The gun grabbing Rats would tell you there is no correlation.
It is sad that twenty children had their lives cut short by a mental case that was probably off his medication. But put it in perspective, more children than that have died during the current flu season.
I believe that the school children dying was part of the cost we have to endure for our liberty. Just like the soldiers in the field.
The government knows that most people are saps for a heartbreaking story and in an emotional attempt to somehow honor the children they will give up their right to own firearms to protect themselves.
This self-flaggelation is not the answer.
the true manipulation event is coming down the congressional pike. Sen. Feinstein is putting in the whacked-out, no-holds-barred, I-want-it-all gun legislation that panders to the progressive, anti-gun base. When it dies in congress they will bellyache that such a good plan was shot down that could save the country.
Then will come a congress critter that puts forth “sensible” changes that will impose similar measures to what the 1994 fire arms act especially limiting magazine size to 10 or less it will be another boondoggle to say the least. Congress will again place limitations on the 2nd amendment that the power of the government was to defend natural law not the right not infringe or take away.
“...then everyone’s minds will be off of the real problem,..”
Exactly. Just like in Argentina. The current Marxist president (in Argentina) and her regime have put their national economy in the tank, and her popularity is at an all-time low. So what does she do? She tries to start a war with the U.K. over the Falkland Islands. Well, obviously. Distract the peasants.
Don't know anything about him at all, but he is right on this issue. We are being distracted and dragged into a war of rhetoric and possible conflict in order to smoke screen the REAL problems of societal immorality and corruption in government. It is NOT the guns. It IS the lack of a moral foundation to live properly with fiscal management which will lead to war.
