I have talked with family members who have children in school and they are all pro gun for one or another reason. As for safety in schools, an armed guard was only one solution, backed up by practical means of protection for individual classrooms and other school facilities. Pointed out was the fact that all govt and state buildings, court facilities, and more, have surveillance cameras everywhere, armed guards to enter the bldgs, and it is just accepted by all who come and go. So, practical backup is relatively affordable, acceptable because of acquaintance with usage elsewhere. Cameras in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, etc. Pepper spray canisters, mace, taser for the teacher to use, and whatever other useful weapon, could be in locations within every close off area for protection of those within. Sensible application of course for availability of usage. If every room had a switch to trigger the sprinkler system, which should be in all schools already, it would be a major interruption to invaders and stop or buy time for more lethal action by the victims. Lots more but people are thinking about the situation and I am hoping that the political prostitutes who thrive on crisis are not going to distract from the real issue of safety for the inhabitants of school buildings, children, teachers, etc,.

Good suggestions. One of the first things they should do is to overturn laws that make schools gun-free zones. Right now every person intent on harming a large number of people KNOWS that schools are gun free zones. Whether a school had armed teachers/guards or not, at least a potential shooter wouldn’t know whether he would meet resistance if these laws were overturned.

i like the suggestion made by someone on a radio talk show. Require any teacher who aspires to executive position to pass a gun proficiency course. Whether or not that person is armed at the school is not advertised. A similar situation to the US Air Marshals.

One side effect of this qualification is that more men (?conservatives) might join the education system.

If a teacher already has a concealed carry permit it is absolutely criminal to forbid them from taking their gun to work.
