An Open Letter to Piers Morgan
The Band of Patriots ^ | January 13, 2013 | Austin Paul

Posted on 01/13/2013 9:55:03 AM PST by AustinPaul19

Dear Mr. Morgan,

Over the past few weeks, you have become one of America’s most outspoken gun grabbers. You have used a horrible tragedy as a platform to preach your anti-gun and anti-freedom agenda. You seem to believe that removing guns from the hands of law abiding, responsible citizens will curb gun crime in this country. You bring on guests, like Ted Nugent and Alex Jones, in an attempt to demonize and paint gun rights advocates and the liberty movement as crazy. When you bring on reasonable guests, like Larry Platt or Ben Shapiro, you insult them and refuse to listen to their arguments. Over the past few weeks, you have done nothing but discredit yourself, your program, and the network that you work for.

As a Libertarian and ardent supporter of the Constitution, I deplore any movement that calls for you to be silenced, or for your deportation because of what you believe. I believe that a fundamental right granted to ALL humans is the right to free speech. Now, I would appreciate if you would show me the same respect by supporting my right to keep and bear arms. You, and those that believe like you, seem to have the misguided idea that the right to bear arms only applies to muskets because that is what the founding fathers had. You need to remember that the founding fathers didn’t have the internet either; so if we pass laws by your criteria, free speech should only apply to quill pens and the Gutenberg printing press.

Now let’s move on to your astounding display of historical ignorance during and after your interview with Ben Shapiro. You seem to believe that governments never turn against their citizens. You also hold the misguided opinion that the US government would never even consider the idea of turning against the people that live within her borders. Obviously, you’ve never heard of the American Indians, or Japanese Internment Camps. These two events are some of the worst in American history. These are just two examples of tyrannical acts committed by the federal government of the United States. Look up the Battle of Athens Tennessee for an example of tyranny on the local level. Next time you make the ignorant assumption that tyranny will never be present inside American borders it would be helpful for you to remember these events.

Paul Harvey once put out a list of FACTS about gun control. Now Piers, these are facts. By your own logic, these can’t be argued. Here is a list of what happens when governments, turn against their citizens and ban firearms in the name of security. If you would like to see the rest of Harvey’s opinion on the matter, you can check it out at this link.

Are you considering backing gun control laws? Do you think that because you may not own a gun, the rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment don't matter?

CONSIDER; In 1929 the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, approximately 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915-1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, 13 million Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, the mentally ill, and others, who were unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million "educated" people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

That places total victims who lost their lives because of gun control at approximately 56 million in the last century. Since we should learn from the mistakes of history, the next time someone talks in favor of gun control, find out which group of citizens they wish to have exterminated. It’s important for you and the rest of your Statist friends to remember that you are correct when it comes to the fact that a single man does not possess the means to fight an entire government. Eighty million men and women, however, do posses the means to fight off a tyrannical government. You seem to forget that the British marched on Lexington and Concord, not to have a picnic, but to confiscate the arms that were being stockpiled by the colonists. A small group of untrained men routed the British army, the world’s most powerful and well-trained army at the time, and sparked a successful revolution. The Afghans, using inferior weapons to those of the Soviets, fought a grueling ten-year war that eventually led to the humiliating defeat of the Soviet Union. Look at those two events alone and just think about what eighty million people with the will to maintain their liberty can do.

Another asinine argument being made by you and the rest of your gun grabber friends is that of the "gun show loophole." I seriously doubt that you have ever attended or bought a firearm at a gun show so your lack of knowledge is understandable. The problem is the fact that you are using your program as a platform to spew your lack of knowledge like it is fact. There is no such thing as a gun show loophole. Every booth where a gun is sold at a gun show is owned by a federally registered firearms dealer. In order for these dealers to make any legal sales they must give the buyer a background check. Guns shows are merely a place where a large group of firearms dealers and owners come together. They are not a place for citizens to operate outside the law.

Your crusade against gun violence in the United States is commendable, but I believe that your outrage is being aimed at the wrong culprit. Violent crime in the United States has been steadily decreasing for over a decade. The worst gun violence in the country is centered in cities that heavily regulate and ban the possession of firearms by law-abiding citizens. The US government could drastically reduce murder rates in this country and around the world almost immediately, if they wanted to. They could do this by completely ending the so called “drug war.” The War on Drugs is the premier cause of murder in the US and in most every country south of our border. Many US murders are caused by gang violence. Most of this violence is caused by territory wars between rival gangs. These territory wars stem out of the illicit drug industry that is booming in street gangs across the country. If we ended the drug war tomorrow we could make the drug industry legitimate. Doing that would end the violence. It’s actually quite simple. Not to mention the fact that a legitimate drug industry would destroy the cartels that are slowly destroying every country from Mexico south. The drug war and gang violence, not guns, is the true cause of America’s high murder rates. Ending the drug war and cracking down on gangs would go further in reducing violence that any gun legislation ever will.

There are multiple myths that you and your ilk have been perpetually spreading ever since the tragedy in Newtown. I could break them all down one by one, but Nick Gillespie and the guys at ReasonTV combated those myths much better than I ever could. Enjoy! Note: Sometimes the included video won't play. You can also view it here.

The right to bear arms is something that has been cherished by Americans for over two centuries. We WILL NOT stand to see you and others like you attempt to take away our rights because you are afraid. I’d like you to know that my liberty ALWAYS trumps your security. If you really cared about gun violence, which I don’t think you do, you would stand against the senseless drug war and you will stand against a president who allows his administration to let guns illegally be transferred across the border and put into the hands of drug cartels. You sir, only want to outlaw certain firearms because they scare you. You know nothing about them and you have no desire to learn about them. If you want to continue to debate me, you can find me on Twitter. My handle is @AustinPaul19.

I will get flamed, but, why exactly do we have to have foreigners on Cable News Network, lecturing us about how we should do things in this country?????

Have you looked at PBS lately? Throughout their entire programing schedule, the only character without a Brit accent is Big Bird.
I would never watch because ... 1) they're BORING; and 2) I can't understand a feckin' word they're saying.

How do all these foreign journalists get work permits? Why are they allowed to work in this country in the first place?

What exactly is a “legitimate drug industry”?
I'm not happy with the abuses of power employed in combating narco terrorism, but I have zero sympathy for those that get swatted by the system because they chose to traffic in illicit drugs. Drug use destroys lives.
Changing the distribution network from Cartels to Fedtels isn't going to fix that.
The Feds are already too big and too powerful. Giving them more source of income isn't going to fix that either.

Morgan seems to be taking an extreme position for ratings, although he’s clearly far left on this issue as well as other progressive issues.

I don’t think pierced moron has any opinion at all on the subject.

He says what he says because he’s nothing but a ratings whore.

A look at his position in the ratings tells the tail. He and that other bozo are competing for last place.

This is the most attention ol pierced has EVER gotten. When the attention seems to die down, this clown will go one step further into the abyss of stupidity. Anyone remember kiether olberdork? Just like him, pierced will go too far into that abyss and CNN won’t have a choice but push him out.

In the meantime he really thinks he’s got a winning hand here, the fool.

Mr. Morgan: When the Argentinians attack the Falklands, what do you propose the citizens do? Should they cheer them on, fight them, or hide in the basements of their homes?

How should they fight them? What would you tell them to do to fight them?

Will you go to their aide?

I agree. I’m seeing more and more people with British accents appearing on American tv and the reason is obvious. Britain is steadily sliding down into a Muslim-dominated socialist crap-hole with a crushing, regressive tax structure and those Brits who can are getting out by the hundreds of thousands every year. They’re heading to South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the most desired port of call being the US.I don’t mind so much. Former Spice Girl Victoria “Posh’’ Beckham came here and was grateful enough to name her son ‘’Brooklyn’’.Her soccer playing husband knew he’d do better here and so did she. She was able to start her own clothing line. In England she would have found it almost impossible because of taxes and regulations and ironically because of such conditions , there would have been few buyers for her high-end merchandise. I don’t mind her type. I do very much mind types like Piers Morgan, recent arrivals who immediately start mouthing off about how America should resemble the socialist crap-holes they just ran away from.

One of the small talents God gave me was an ability to mimic accents. I’ve impressed Germans, Brits, Irish(my favorite), Scots and Spanish people by doing so. You name it, I can do it. Not to toot my own horn too much but trust me, I’ve impressed a lot of people doing it. Americans seem to go gaga over the Midlands accent(think Julie Andrews). If old Piers Morgan were speaking in a Cockney accent no one would be paying him any attention. “ang on Guv, ‘ere, you fink you’re all posh tawkin’like a poncey git to th’ rest of us,eh’’? Could you make sense out of something like that?
