Anyone who uses the term "fair share" when writing or talking about government revenues should be required to take a physical. We need to discover if they are indeed alive.
One can see them figuratively as zombies shuffling down the street, driven by an unquenchable appetite to eat the rich. Instead of growling, they keep repeating "fair share, fair share."
Their brains are no longer alive, but they are automated nevertheless by a virus spread by political demagogues who gain power by creating social class enmity and propagating greed.
The ironies inherent in the "fair share" demagogues are delicious, if you like irony. Al Gore, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for growing rich off global warming, reportedly made $70 million by selling his TV network to Al-Jazeera, the cable channel funded in part by Qatar, which, of course, has money to spare by selling lots of oil.
Evidently, there was some hurry to finish the deal before Jan. 1. Why? That’s when the tax on "the rich" went up.
It is just amazing how rich leftists minimize their taxes at almost every opportunity. The demagogues will "fight" for tax fairness as long as "fairness" doesn’t impact themselves, their voting base, or their sources of campaign money.
If these paragons of public virtue really were interested in "the rich" paying their "fair share" because of the financial woes of the republic, there is nothing to stop them from using their considerable organizing ability to set up movements encouraging people to voluntarily pay more tax.
As far as I know, the government will allow you to overpay. Warren Buffett could pay more taxes than his secretary. There is nothing that would prevent him from doing that. Well-off liberals could voluntarily add 10, 20 or even 30 percent more to their taxes.
Al Gore, John Kerry, and even our own Honorable Tom Harkin (multimillionaires all) could all add hundreds of thousands of dollars annually in voluntary and extra taxes.
By the way, the next time you meet a shuffling zombie mumbling "fair share, fair share," ask it what a "fair share" would be. Of course, you will only get a blank stare.
The ultimate fair share, of course, could be a guaranteed income equal to the nation’s average income. If you made more than that, the government would tax you down to that amount. If you made less, the government would pay you the difference.
If you are not a zombie, think of the implications.
Interesting, isn’t it?
Why would you go to work if you got the same income, irrespective of what you did? Even if your virtue runneth over, why would others who make it possible for you to work, go to work?
The government would, of course, eventually have to force you to work, and force you to do the work that the government wants you to do. In a very short period of time, we would have the universal statement from every worker’s paradise on the planet, "We pretend to work, and the government pretends to pay us."
But think of if, the rich would then be paying their ultimate "fair share." If not Nirvana, at least a zombie paradise would be achieved, except there would be nothing for them to eat.
Which is a problem for the demagogues.
If "the rich" truly were leveled, who will the demagogues encourage you to demonize? Or to put this in more pragmatic terms; who would the zombies eat next?
You see the demagogues, many of whom are rich, need the rich in much the same ways that unions need management, and management needs unions. Both need the other to justify their actions.
Actually, what "fair share" means is this: The government will give you what you want and someone not like you will pay for it,
andyou do not have to feel that you are immoral to demand it.
You do, however, have to take a pledge never to give "fair share" any thought.
Add Bernie Sanders too, I saw on one site where the worship was so thick, they made him out like he was a ghod or Superman. They are zombies.

Anyone beyond high school caught using the words “fair share” should be shot in the head. Seriously.
Oh wait, Obama used those words when talking about taxing the rich!

Salient point: Nobody went without, but everyone worked. No workee, no din-din.
Much of it, like a lot of utopian work, looks good but: It. just. doesn’t. work.
I believe this book is where the analogy of the wagon being pulled by some and ridden by others originated (or the first time I read it) with the irony today being that in this book the workers pulled the wagon while the rich rode.
Eventually the people pulling the wagon get tired of pulling and want to ride.
Final point, try to recall the last time you heard that a poor man was hiring.

It is crazy how guys like Bill Moyers can be so appalled by Cronyism by Capitalists, while they enrich themselves on the taxpayers who they claim to champion. Capitalism is the basis of freedom, but in the idealistic world they live in freedom will eventually disappear. Thanks for checking in.
