Morning FRiends. Snap!
Having problems with Free Republic this morning. Is it just me? I’m getting a message that says “Your queries have returned no results”.
FR has been acting up for me for a few days. Very slow to load. Also interesting is that there haven't been as many posts as usual. IT could be there's a problem with the servers OR maybe FReepers are losing the fire in the belly.
I sure hope it isn't the later!
I think people are burnt out right now. I know I almost lost enthusiasm for posting this thread everyday, but I won’t give up. I think the time for regrouping and getting fired up again will be rekindled. We have lost the battle, but we haven’t lost the war. And, make no mistake, the war is coming. Race riots across the country - did you see the report about the riot in Swissvale? You hear about it at other places around the country. I live in a town with a very large university. We are a small town, but I won’t be surprised if it happens here.

I know about the lack of enthusiasm, malaise and just plain feeling hopeless at times. Everything feels odd and out of place. I’m getting to where I can’t/don’t want to read the news. One story that hit me like a ton of bricks (and I don’t know why it has) is the Swartz suicide. He was only 26. He did have a history of depression (family admits that) but I wonder what he “knew” from his Internet releases and how hard the govt came down on him. It just seems all wrong and sinister. Don’t know of Quinn or Rose will mention it (turned off radio—grandbaby time).
Yes things are going to get real bad!
People to seem to have lost passion. Hopefully that will change in the Spring. In some ways I think BO had to win. If he hafn’t people would have thought the fight was over. This way, while they might be discouraged, they will see the absolute evil of socialism and the people who espouse it!
When they do it should light the fire again. The low paychecks are just a start!
BTW did you hear Jim open the show? The content wasn’t what I noticed, it was his voice. He sounded much more relaxed and younger than he has for quite a while. Maybe watching football recharged him.
I know exactly what you mean about the “out of place” and I am really, really suspicious about the whole Swartz situation. He seems like he was a really nice young man. There is something more to his story and the whole thing feels sinister to me as well.
My daughter-in-law’s father passed away yesterday morning. Died in his sleep. He had cancer. I am so glad he was able to walk her down the aisle, and I’m glad DIL got to spend Christmas with her dad.
I think you’re right about BO having to win. We have to hit rock bottom before people wake up and see what he’s doing to this country - as if it isn’t CLEAR ENOUGH!
Quinn sounds great this morning. I missed the opening comments. As usual, I was downstairs getting the coffee going, etc. Why the heck don’t I just hook up the tablet and listen downstairs on that?!
The Swartz suicide is tragic. One thing though he was a co-founder of reddit. That’s a site I never go to. It seems like it’s basically focused on bizarre, not mormal behavior. Sure it can be funny but there’s just something creepy about it to me.
As for the news I haven’t watched much of anything since the election including Fox. To me they all played us and we fell for it. I won’t let them do that to me again. I question EVERY story and source!
The Swartz death reminded me...did you see the FR thread about the twins from Belgium who asked to be euthanised? IIRC the brothers were in their 40’s and had been deaf since birth. They never left each other’s sight and worked as cobblers.
Doctors told them they were going blind so the brothers asked to be killed and they wereceuthanised.
Immediately after socialists introduced a bill that would allow anyone including children who asked to be euthanised. Altzheimers, and anyone with a “mental disorder” could be killed by the state.
Oh how sad to hear about his passing. A good friend of mine just went thru this w the loss of her d-I-L’s mom (suddenly) heart issue. It’s never easy time is it?
The Swartz story just is heartbreaking. Alot of young kids, computer geeks, are questioning all of what has happened in his story (JSTOR, Reddit). Maybe some good will come of it that young generation finds out what govt is capable of.
I was surprised Jim was so pumped about football. Football!?! I thought he didn’t have the “sports gene?”
LOLZ...AFC Championship, Patriots (team Steeler fans hate) vs. Ravens (teams Steeler fans hate even more!). Sigh:(
I’m with you—we CAN’T give up. Our kids future is at stake and I can’t bear the thought of leaving them our country the way it is right now.
I think I missed something . . . did some idiot just call in and call Rose “toots”?
