Police are investigating whether a White Plains, NY home break-in was the result of the homeowner being pinpointed on the handgun permit map recently published by a NY newspaper.
According to a Westchester/Rockland Newsday report, two burglars broke into the home and went for the safe that contained the owner’s guns. The victim, a man in his 70s, was not home at the time. The burglars were unable to open the safe, and one suspect was taken into custody.

Hmmm, yes, it looks that way. Now, if only the story were not interesting and important, I guess you might have a point. But since the content happens to beat hollow the usual state-run blather that's posted here and whined about, I'd say you don't have a point.
I think it's a waste of time to strain out a gnat and swallow a camel in cases like this. This story actually contains important news. With all due respect for law and order, this "shameless" story contributed a lot more to my FR reading experience than your finger-wagging post about it. For "pimp" alerts, please save your powder for the bores.

Personally, I disagree with this deceptive practice
and will make note of it when I see it.
If relaying this “interesting and important” story
were the goal, it could have been done from a credible
source. Without being re-written after being essentially stolen.

I tried it on the "Give a d***" meter a number of times, but just couldn't get the old girl to respond. I can sympathize with keeping track of how the site is being used, but it just seems to me that the posts we don't want are the boring or uninformative ones. If someone gets to me first with something I didn't know, that has value to me.
I think these things should be policed for quality, and go light on procedure if something reads well.
