I’m sure it’s more expensive than I can afford.

...not to worry - won’t work in fog, rain, snow, dense smoke, dust, flying sand, in other words, about any environment akin to a battlefield...
...this is a garage queen..

Drones Heck! Sink some ships, open some tanks- shoot something slower and more valuable than drones.
And make it more comfortable...

Hmm. Article says:
The company has tested the laser system in a variety of weather conditions, including snow, sunlight, and rain.
So thats three down at least. And maybe more that they are not being specific about.

Dang.
Pretty sad when the average joe needs a complete military defense system just to be protected from his/her own government.

The classic sci-fi fan in me bemoans the lack of graceful and delicate flanges, tubing pulsing with glowing liquid, and a red crystal bulb on the end. Something that says, ‘of course this is a laser-death ray.’ These look like pieces air of conditioning ductwork stuck on top of mini fridges.

I’m more worried about Google.
Tell me you wouldn’t be a world wide hero if you took down a Google drone???
To: Olog-hai
Yes! More of that, less laser cannons that look like they belong next to the Kenmore washer/dryers in household appliances.

Guess they have to throw it in for the record. Maybe as a baseline?

Ever hear of a corner reflector?
To: Olog-hai
A laser weapons system that can shoot down two drones at a distance of over a mile has been demonstrated by Rheinmetall Defense. But what if the enemy employs a cunning plan and sends only one drone?
