CUOMO v FREEDOM
boblonsberry.com ^ | 01/15/13 | Bob Lonsberry

Posted on 01/15/2013 6:01:07 AM PST by shortstop

It seems odd that the government of a free people would pass secret legislation in the dark of the night.

But then, New Yorkers are not a free people.

And Andrew Cuomo is not a democrat.

He is a monarchist.

And by noon today, a secret, un-debated effort to criminalize tens of thousands of law-abiding, tax-paying New Yorkers will be in place. In the interest of his presidential ambitions and in the name of public safety, Andrew Cuomo and the coven of servile evildoers that is the state legislature have castrated the Second Amendment and enslaved the people.

Cuomo’s bid to out Hitler Obama has worked.

The people are measurably disarmed.

What George the Third could not achieve, Mario the Second has.

With no public notification or discussion, with all details of the legislation held completely secret, Andrew Cuomo has outlawed an entire class of firearms – casting a very large net over hundreds of guns he calls assault rifles.

Any firearm with a flash suppressor or a pistol grip or a collapsible stock or a flashlight mount or, in many cases, a detachable magazine, is rechristened an assault rifle and, by noon today, will be illegal to purchase in the Archduchy of New York. Those who already own such beastly devices will be required to register them with the state and may never transfer them to anyone except the state.

You can’t sell them, you can’t give them away, you can’t leave them to your kids in your will. The right to own them dies with you.

The biggest selling American rifle of the last eight years is now illegal in Cuomo’s New York. Millions of Americans own them, tens of thousands of them are manufactured annually in the state of New York, but New Yorkers are not free enough to own them.

Because the government knows best.

Even more nefarious is the magazine capacity limit, which says, one year from this date, no New Yorker can own a magazine that holds more than seven bullets. Unrealized by most is the fact that many common rifles and handguns don’t come with magazines holding fewer than 10 bullets.

Millions of American .22 rifles – the traditional firearms of children – have magazines holding 10, 14 or 18 rounds.

Grandpa’s M1 Garand, the one he used to free Europe, comes with an 8-round clip that, after 60 years of sitting in the closet, just became contraband. Ditto for home-defense shotguns, which come standard with 8-round magazines.

And the handgun of the age – the Glock – doesn’t make, for most of its firearms, magazines holding fewer than 10 rounds.

What that means is that you will able to own the gun, but not the magazine that allows it to function. You can own the gun, but you can’t make it shoot.

Details of the magazine ban are unknown, as is every part of this legislation. As this day dawns, the bill has been passed by the Vichy French of the state Senate, but its contents and text have not been made public.

That’s how the “land of the free” operates these days – at least as governed by the Emperor Cuomo.

But one of the whispered aspects of the bill is, in addition to a limit on the number of rounds in a magazine, a limit on the number of magazines a person could own – specifically, two. Whether that is two per gun, or two per gun owner, the overseer hasn’t yet found time to communicate to the field slaves.

That means that when the home invasion hits your house, the handgun you rely on to protect your family, the one designed to hold 17 rounds per magazine, will fire just 14 times, if you stop to change clips while they’re raping your wife.

If not, you better hope you never come up against more than seven rounds of trouble.

Because young Andy has decided, as the Dauphin of Albany, that you can fight for your life with seven rounds, but not eight. The criminals, whose guns and magazines are all illegal anyway, can come high capacity, but you, you are going to run out of ammo right about the time the bad guy pushes his muzzle up against your forehead.

You will be a martyr to his presidential ambitions.

And if you aren’t, your freedom certainly will be.

As New Yorkers learned last night, nothing stops Reichsleiter Cuomo.

Also rumored to be in the legislation is a provision calling for the re-issuance – and periodic re-issuance – of all pistol permits in the state. Those permits will be reissued under new statewide guidelines not yet promulgated by His Eminence the Governor.

What’s that mean?

That means that people who have lawfully owned handguns in New York must all now come hat in hand and bow before the sharia of the Hudson. If you don’t meet the standards of Kim Jung Andy, you lose your permit and you lose your guns.

All that’s been said on that count is that permits must now be issued under a uniform statewide standard. That raises the question of whose standard will become statewide?

Will it be the standard of Wayne County, where concealed-carry permits take about a month to process? Or will it be the standard of Monroe County where those same permits take as long as a year and a half to come through? Or will it be Onondaga County where you wait a year and are uniformly denied the right to carry the gun for self-defense?

Or will the new New York State standard be the standard of New York County, where no permits are issued to the general public whatsoever?

Those questions are unanswered.

Also unanswered is when the lieutenant governor – so important to the function of the state that he lives five hours away – will turn in his high-capacity magazines. A former police officer, he was known for years to carry a personal Beretta with a double stack that his political patron just made a felony.

Speaking of police officers, this law just castrated their guns, too. On duty, they can carry the high-capacity magazines all modern guns were designed to hold. Off duty, they join the citizenry in the under-gunned category. Ditto for the day they retire.

This makes it a lot easier for the bad guys. When you’re attacking an armed citizen, just count to seven, and then you’ve got him.

But wait, there's more. The legislation also says that every purchaser of every kind of ammunition must go through a background check.

Every purchaser or every kind of ammunition.

So the night before deer season opens, when everybody remembers they need a box of shells, you better hope there's somebody awake in Albany to answer the call from WalMart and look up your records.

A box of .22s for plinking? Background check.

A box of shells for skeet? Background check.

That creates hassle and expense, both of which will be borne by the law-abiding gun owners of New York.

But this isn’t about guns, it’s about freedom.

And last night in New York it took a staggering blow. Not just in the loss of Second Amendment rights, and a contemptuous governor who vilifies any who complain about his legislation, but in a process that bastardized representative government.

When you pass secret legislation in the dark of the night, you are not doing the people’s business, you are giving the people the business.

Right up their back end.

The concept of representative government died in New York last night, so that the governor could advance his personal ambitions.

On July 26, 1788, New York became the eleventh state to ratify the Constitution. On January 14, 2013, New York became the first state to disavow it.

So let it be written, so let it be done.

This is what the citizens of New York voted for when they pulled the lever for “D”. This is what they wanted .

Bullsh!t...!!

This is why we have a Constitution - to prevent a temporary majority or tyrannical politicians from stepping on the rights of all - which they do when they step on the rights of the minority.

There are millions of New Yorkers (good, patriotic Americans, all) who suffer under this new fascist tyranny. Their Constitutional rights have been trampled and unknown numbers have just been deprived of their legal property without compensation and turned into defacto criminals. In addition to that, they have had their rights as enumerated under the 2nd Amendment not only violated, but raped!

The fact the fascist city of New York is attached to their state happened over two hundred years ago when the city was only a small part of the state. Now it controls it, along with the radical politicians who would be happier ruling in the 1960 Soviet Union than in the 1960 America. Millions of New Yorkers suffer unjustly for it and are having their Constitutional rights trampled.

Don't think for a second it ends here, or ends in New York, or is about "Yankees". This is about us ALL!

The fascists are on a roll. They smell total victory, total control. Cuomo and his fascist enablers are simply the latest and lowest to successfully establish it. There are others in other states and even more now proceeding at the federal level.

Just wait for Obama's new EOs. The ones he releases today are not the end. They are only the beginning. They plan to overwhelm us in this just as they overwhelmed us in Obamacare. It doesn't even matter what the majority of Americans want or what is Constitutional. They don't care. It is what THEY want, and can get away with and THEY are hell bent on doing it!

Don't be so self righteous about all this. All patriotic Americans are in this together. We are now in a war to survive as a Constitutional Republic, a war not of our own choosing. This is no longer about North and South or about gloating because you are lucky enough to live one place rather than another in the USA. We have the same Constitution as a contract and the same federal government.

The big picture is, this is about our survival, the survival of any and all our freedoms and liberties - and maybe the physical survival of those who oppose it as well. This is a national crisis, precipitated by vile politicians and their allies and enabled by a weak opposition, an out of control federal government, a horrendously uniformed and ignorant segment of the population, and deafening propaganda by a compliant and powerful media machine.

Today, it is only stunning words and stark disbelief at what the tyrants are steadfastly accomplishing. Tomorrow ...?

Drivel......

The revolution was won in the south by southerners.

The loyalist cancer persists and is concentrated in New England that is now NeoEuropa.

I do not berate yankee conservatives. I merely urge them to leave and emigrate to America

How can any dem say they support the Second Amendment without bursting into uncontrollable laughter?

This is appalling and patently Unconstitutional. The 2A is the right to shoot tyrants, not deer.

Some might say it is indeed too late for you.

NY already had strict gun control laws. The time to have done something was when the prior laws were being put into place.

It’s much harder to cry foul now, when strict gun control has been tolerated for so long.

It’s easy, looking from without, to assume that NY residents want these type of laws, and these type of leaders.

But I don’t think it’s too late to fight.

The revolution was won in the south by southerners.

Maybe it was ultimately won in the south, but it was fought in every state and territory by Patriots from every state. Every state also had it's heavy contingents of Tories. Frankly, it's no differnt today.

The loyalist cancer persists and is concentrated in New England that is now NeoEuropa.

True, as far as it goes.

Looking at the most recent national election maps, the cancer also exists all over the country, and much of it is concentrated on both coasts - but it does not stop there. There are plenty of "red" (or potentially "red") states polluted by cesspools like Chicago, New Orleans, St. Louis, New Orleans, Detroit, Cleveland, Las Vegas, etc. which exert control over vaster areas. You get the picture. There are large areas of "red", even among the more populous "blue". A good case could be made this is more about city vs. rural than region vs. region. Liberalism is like an expanding epidemic. It is among us all and is being spread by it's own Typhoid Marys. Nobody is immune from it's dangers or effects.

This is a now national problem, not simply a local one. If the Consitution fails in one part of the country (or is subverted at the national level) it ultimately fails in all. The collapse will not likely be contained to a single area or region. Like the former Yugoslavia, our future could end in a violent breakup and unmentionable loss and suffering for many and a victory for others.

The reigning fascists at all levels are not about to give up their resources, power, and fawning and potential subjects simply because we object and wave the Constitution in their faces. You can see they already laugh at us, ignore it, and continue to press forward.

I think you are trying to point the finger where it belongs (Liberals, Marxists, criminal politicians, enabling supporters). Please do not throw the baby out with the filthy bath water. We are more effective when we (patriots) hang together rather then hang separately.

This cancer needs to be beat back everywhere, and the "war" needs to be fought on their territory, not ours.

The stories I have read say that 10 round mags would be illegal. No grandfathering at all. You would have to sell them out of state.

If true, then the the State of New York will have to write a lot of checks to pay for the magazines that it confiscated as well as the firearms that are now worthless.

They generally don’t pay you when they confiscate contraband...

It seems like they will give you 1 year to get rid of them, and then they will be illegal.

However, this bill or law hasn’t been made public yet. It was voted on in secret, and we really can;t be sure of what it says...

“Stores that sell ammunition will have to register with the state, run background checks on buyers of bullets and keep an electronic database of bullet sales.”

Why? What is this about? If they find a 9mm casing at a crime scene, are they going to work backwards from that to a suspect? What will the state charge to run a background check? Will that cost be added to the ammo cost (duh, yes it will). Is it intended to harass stores that sell ammo so they will get out of the business? Or is it just to get a database of likely gun owners?

“But there’s no way it helps him win the presidency. States like Florida, Virginia, and North Carolina are not going to vote for the guy who crafted the most draconian anti-gun laws in the nation.”

Similar predictions were made for those states regarding Obama in 2008 and again in 2012.

How’d that work out?

“Not all of us are doing nothing. But—we seem to be helpless. Last Tuesday evening I emailed my State Senator and Assemblyman about these issues. I got an autoreply from the Senator. That’s all so far. They both are Republicans. My wife has one more year to work. Indiana is lookig really good right now.”

What “BO Stinkss” seems unable to comprehend is that although one may be conservative in a state like New York, conservatives (as a group) simply don’t have enough “in numbers” [politically] to counter the leftists who outnumber them.

There aren’t enough conservatives to elect enough conservative-minded state legislators. There’s no way conservatives can gain enough political power to influence the policies in such states.

That’s why the anti-gun legislation flew through the NY legislature faster than grease through a goose. There was no opposition because there simply weren’t enough elected conservatives to oppose it. Nor will there ever be again in states like New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, etc.

This is the dilemma of being a conservative in a blue state. One may have good, personal reasons for being there — a job, a family history, etc. Very well. But the downside is that by staying, one must accede to being ruled by leftists.

I put up a post to another NY Freeper about this in another thread, not going to repeat it all here. But for conservatives the only options are to stay in a state such as New York, and put up with the diktats of the left — or to get out, to emigrate to another state where the rights of conservatives and citizens in general are more respected.

The country is dividing. It’s dividing into certain areas where one’s Constitutional rights remain important, vis-a-vis other areas where the governments are intent on taking such rights away. And above it all is a federal government that seems to be encouraging the efforts of the latter, supplemented by a Supreme Court that isn’t motivated to do much about it.

Not sure where this will lead.
But wherever that may be, the times will be gettin’ worse before they get better.

I’m sure that Andy and his ilk are utterly convinced that a gun that looks mean and lean is much more likely to kill you than something as innocuous as a plain-stock, sporterized, bolt action 30-06. I say they should demonstrate how much safer everyone will be if only 30-06’s are used in the commission of crimes.
