Also, see this example of another mistaken Google date, which happened to be rather costly. The point is, the dates next to Google search results are notoriously unreliable.

The date was proven to be correct by viewing the cache date.

And here is an article with a response from Google:

“This is a technical glitch on our end,” the engineer wrote. “[T]he date Google’s search engine first ‘saw’ the page was 12/14/2012 at 6:58pm. (We’re looking into a fix, but it may take some weeks.)”
