On Monday, the New Jersey state Senate, in a party-line vote, passed a bill that would exclude construction workers who are not a part of a union from doing work related to Hurricane Sandy cleanup and reconstruction in the state.
According to RedState, New Jersey state Senate President Steven Sweeney (D), who also happens to be an Ironworkers union organizer, drafted the bill that would expand union-only Project Labor Agreements to included Hurricane Sandy cleanup and reconstruction.

NJ Legislature shows its total lack of concern for the well-being of constituents.
Looks like union membership will increase. And I suppose a bunch of people that would have received lower wages will be enjoying prevailing wage.
A neighbor who has been out of work for a couple of years and only doing odd jobs got on a job paying prevailing wage. He is real happy about it.
He was stressing over losing his car and not having a way to get to work if he found it. Got his car payment caught up.

Ah, so that’s another part of the reason why the “emergency” federal funding is billions and billions. What an utter fraudulent waste.
Is that not a violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the US Constitution?
Oh wait, that is now more or less like the Pirate Code, more a set of guidelines...
Why is it all right to discriminate based on group association? Could they discriminate against people from a certain church, or members of a civic group, or people with facial piercings?
How can the state prefer a union over a non-union shop and call that a fair treatment of all citizens?
Also, would that not also violate state laws for bidding on contracts for public projects? Don’t they have to permit everyone to at least bid on the projects?
What is it about a disaster that makes this kind of self-limitation on getting workers to fix things an acceptable practice.
The entire country is corrupt. Where are the prosecutors when you need them?
Talk about “class warfare”. The “union class” versus the average working man.
Hey Christie. Can you get off your fat ass, stop eating the donut shop, and take a stand for the “working people”, or are you so far up Obama’s/Democrats’ asses that you no longer care for equal opportunity?
Another GOP wolf in sheep’s clothing (i.e. Sen. Brown, Mass)?
Yeah, seriously. Christie LOVES Christie. He loves long walks on the beach with Barry, and he still dreams of that beautiful feeling he got when the White House took his phone calls on the first ring. Like an old prostitute, he’ll gladly do any nasty thing Barry asks him to, just to feel like the prettiest girl in the room again. He disgusts me.
showing just how Mob controlled NJ is.....I would never vote for Christie or any one from NJ, they are all the property of the mob
So we taxpayers have to fork over billions to the unions to ‘clean up’ Sandy mess!
No wonder they are so upset the sandy bill was not passed!
I will not give them a penny unless the jobs are open to all.
why should people donate to the crooks in the unions?
In the incestuous relationship between politicians and unions remember they both offer what the other craves.
The unions offer the politician massive amounts of money and manpower. Without either or both the politician can not guarantee his reelection.
The politician offers the unions protection and exclusivity you can only work at this or that job if you are a member of the appropriate union. Something the unions can no longer do on their own.
With this reality view is there any questions as to what just happened in New Jersey?
Automatic veto by Christie.
I would not bet on it.
