President Barack Obama will put more "counselors" in school to help thwart gun violence. According to a background briefer provided by the White House, Obama hopes to add an additional 1,000 "school resource officers and counselors."

PUT UP TO 1,000 MORE SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS AND COUNSELORS IN SCHOOLS AND HELP SCHOOLS INVEST IN SAFETY: Putting school resource officers and mental health professionals in schools can help prevent school crime and student-on-student violence. School resource officers are specially trained police officers that work in schools. When equipped with proper training and supported by evidence-based school discipline policies, they can deter crime with their presence and advance community policing objectives. Their roles as teachers and counselors enable them to develop trusting relationships with students that can result in threats being detected and crises averted before they occur. School psychologists, social workers, and counselors can help create a safe and nurturing school climate by providing mental health services to students who need help. Not every school will want police officers or additional school counselors, but we should do what we can to help schools get the staff they determine they need to stay safe.

Exactly. As the federal government extends it's tenticles into the local schools you just have to wonder who will they be reporting to? Where will their loyalties lie. Will they be carrying guns?
lemme guess are they Unionized? Purty soon they’ll be more teachers assistants counselors head shrinkers etc than kids in the gubmint schools
Tell your kids to be careful what they do and say in school If they are declared mentally ill or unstable it will get reported to police and they will try and go after your guns.
Says all you need to know about the liberal fascists that they’d rather employ “grief counselors” for after the tragedy, than employ guards to prevent the tragedy.

Typical of the Dems, the Socialist Democrats I mean. The answer is always more loyalists, more Democrat voters by providing jobs in government for more votes. Everything they do is towards the goal of becoming the majority they have never been. It’s all for votes.
For them to just bulldoze the Constitution as they are also doing, but less a pace than they could if they didn’t want to give the illusion of Democracy would be counter productive to their goals. (”H” the Dems don’t even understand what a Republic is.)
Why don't we turn down the offer of help and hire our own helpers, under our supervision?
All of the functions which we pay the federal government to do for us which we can do for ourselves should be returned to the local level. They would then have less leverage to boss us around. They are making us work for them with our own money. And doing a piss poor job of it.
Only 20 new ‘counselors’ per state, eh?
Better yet, put your kids in private day schools or home school...
