Honolulu (AP) - A Schofield Barracks soldier was shot and killed by police early Tuesday after he repeatedly rammed multiple police cars with his truck in Waikiki. Several police officers were injured in the incident.
The 25th Infantry Division said in a statement that it's cooperating with the Honolulu Police Department as officers investigate. The unit won't release the soldier's name until his family members are notified.
"This is an incredibly tragic incident, and we offer our condolences to the soldier's family and to the officers injured," Lt. Col. Derrick Cheng, spokesman for the 25th Infantry Division, said in a statement. "We're working closely with the HPD as they lead the investigation, and they have our full support throughout this process."

Was he drunk? Look like he'd been cut up some in a knife fight with some dude who looked like Ernest Borgnine?
What about Donna Reed, was she anywhere nearby?

Why do they always make a point of telling us they’re soldiers or veterans? Is this a sympathy story, a more funding for whatever story, or a we’re creating dangerous Rambos story?

Tragic event.
My guess? No “assault weapons,” but Alcohol was definitely involved.
Maybe we need to go back to Prohibition? /s>

I know I should be ashamed of myself, but there is something about somebody just twisting off in a grand fashion that does something for me.
Don't know what it is, just sayin'.

They should register and then ban high capacity assault vehicles.

I didn’t go to the link, but he was probably impaired. If he was a returning vet...who knows, maybe he had PTSD. That like all the “mental illnesses” is over diagnosed, but some really do have it...just like the guys coming home from WWII, Vietnam...I know Rambo was just a dumb movie, but I thought it explained ptsd pretty effectively. Sad, sad story...whatever the reason.

Heh. No, obviously not to that point. But using a truck to batter-ram a bunch of Police cars is face-eating stupid.

We wouldn't be subjected to such distressing news stories if only that damned First Amendment was outlawed.
