I wrote to my senators and representative in both my State legislature and my representatives in DC. I got back a reply from one of the Senators from my State, a national socialist (aka democrat):

...I believe a combination of improved access to mental health services, restrictions on certain weapons intended for the battlefield, and elimination of the gun show loophole are sensible steps that can protect our communities and particularly, our children...

He's partially right, mostly wrong. No restrictions. Where in the Bill of Rights does it say these rights may be infringed and restricted based on what someone else has or is doing. (eg. the military) Hmm, let's see... Oh, it doesn't. In fact the Bill of Rights explicitly says these rights shall not be infringed. Sorry Senator, I am diametrically opposed to you on that restrictions thing - letting some political hack determine what I need or don't need. That's not freedom and liberty, that's tyranny.

Also good Senator, if you are really concerned about the safety of our children in their schools you'll take steps to immediately end the idiotic and utterly failed "gun free zone" policy. That has been a failure for 20 years now. All it does is turn our schools into hunting preserves for the evil and insane. We should allow, even encourage teachers and staff to get firearms, get training, and carry their weapons with them at all times.
