Not to be argumentative, but I think that FR rule was modified in '07 before being eliminated altogether from the rulebook in '09. Does anyone have the 2010 rulebook?

I loaded that pic into Photoshop and selected the "Add weirdness" add-in. When I moved the slide all the way to maximum, the result looked identical!

It is a lot easier to show how handguns and the proliferation of concealed carry has made America safer (reducing crime) than it is to defend against the demonization of guns which look like military ones.

That is part of the tactic, the rest is that the Communitsts are a lot more afraid of something you can reliably hit with at 300 (.223) to 700+ (.308) meters.

Besides, someone might get the idea that a handgun could be carried by people in the school to defend against maniacs.

I’m sorry, I just don’t see the ‘benefit’ to the gun grabbers of deliberately changing the meme for this story to ‘assualt weapons’ from handguns if that were the case. If you look at firearms murders, handguns are the weapon of choice. A liberal is generally clueless about self-defense arguments, deliberately so. And we know the gun grabbers, from past statements, yearn most for a handgun ban.

I see the confusion in the first couple days of reporting as typical for news agencies falling over themselves to get a scoop in the absence of hard information. As another poster noted, much of the initial reporting about Columbine was wrong. So were the accounts that the Aurora shooter had an armored vest. So confusion is a historically viable reason for the variances.
