Does anyone have a clip of the medical examiner saying “.223”? All the clips I’ve seen he only says “long gun” and said it twice. He never mentioned a caliber or rifle. So why does everyone keep saying he said it was done with a .223 when he never said that (that I can find)?
You are correct. If you can listen to his press conference he says “Long Gun” at around 4:30. He appears to be a rambling drunk could not watch the whole thing but your welcome to.

He does say it was “the rifle”, when asked for clarification if it was the “long gun”. When asked about the caliber, he declined to answer, because that is a question for the police department, since that is who does the ballistics examination, not the medical examiner. They were clear in the press conference that a rifle caused the wounds, and that the rifle was not found in the trunk. Since there was only one rifle found at the scene, it’s pretty cut and dry that it was the one they are talking about.
