“Want proof? Look at post Katrina New Orleans when Mayor Nagin announced exactly that — out and out gun confiscations. Everybody else gasped and we waited for the RAGIN’ CAJUNS to open fire. “

People know the difference between reestablishing order in a disaster zone, and a move to confiscate guns. While the New Orleans confiscations were bad and ruled unlawful,, everybody always knew that normal America, was still functioning with normal rules, about 100 miles away in every direction.

A nationwide confiscation is a different animal and people are smarter than you give them credit for. Also, as for 90%,,the American revolution never saw more than 3% under arms. Among American gun owners, that a few million motivated people. I feel generous today, lets say not 3%, lets say we only had 0.3% to resist. Thats conservatively 250,000 motivated resisters.

The IRA never numbered over a 1000 true, gun carrying fighters.

I don’t know how to post a topic here

Click post beside the forum you want to post it on and the rest is pretty much self explanatory. See the side bar for list of forums.

"...it was New York that brought us Boss Tweed and Tammany Hall politics."

And it was Tammany Hall, that brought New York gun-control under the Sullivan Act:

The father of New York gun control was Democratic city pol “Big Tim “Sullivan — a state senator and Tammany Hall crook, a criminal overseer of the gangs of New York...

Sullivan knew the gangs would flout the law, but appearances were more important than results...

Ordinary citizens, on the other hand, were disarmed, which solved another problem: Gangsters had been bitterly complaining to Tammany that their victims sometimes shot back at them.

And a century later, Democrats are still protecting criminals from law abiding citizens who would defend themselves!

They will use trickery at first. They know that a full on door-to-door will not work.

Maybe send threatening letters to all gun owners.

We know you have such and such gun and you will be fined $10 per day until you turn it in or show proof that it was lost/stolen.

After 30 days they will suspend your drivers license.

After 60 days a warrant for your arrest will be issued.

After 90 days you are now considered a threat to society and armed and dangerous.

I’ve always been curious who will volunteer to do the door-knocking

Any cop. This actually occurred in NYC under David Dinkins - a little 0bama. Semi-auts were registered in 1967 and then confiscated them in 1992. The NYC police were the ones enforcing the confiscations. People don't join the police to not enforce laws. I know there is a mouthy police worshipping contingent on fr who thinks that they walk on water, but it just ain't so. They enforce the will of the government the DO NOT uphold the constitution.

Do you think the armed forces, the majority of whom are conservative, would go along with a national confiscation action? I don’t. But I personally don’t think some sort of door-to-door action will ever happen. There’d just be too much trouble, and there are too many gun-owning Dems who bridle at their constitutional rights taken away just like conservative Republicans.
