The electronic pulltab sales slated to help fund the Vikings stadium are nowhere near their projected target, even after the state lowered that target last month, a House committee learned Wednesday.

The sale of electronic pulltabs, run by Minnesota charities, was supposed to generate $348 million in taxes to underwrite the state's share of the cost of a new Vikings stadium.
But the electronic pulltab games, introduced in September, have pulled in just $4.2 million in gross receipts -- and $635,000 in net receipts after prizes were paid.

What in the devil are ‘pulltabs’?..........................
Lottery games, where the tabs are, in essence, the ‘slot machine arms’.
Like a ‘scratch-off’ ticket?........................
Not really. Most pull tabs that I’ve ever seen have three or more “windows”, each with a tab. You pull them all and see if you win anything.
Each set of tabs contains a percentage payout, so someone’s going to win something., But it’s possible to waste a lot of money on them.
A scratch-off game, on the other hand, usually involves choices the player makes as to which rows to activate.
Now I know I am old. I associated pull tabs with the tabs that first appeared on beer and soft drink cans after the demise of the can opener, AKA church key. They were the ones that came off the can rather than end up tucked under the can tops - the ones that used to cut your feet when folks threw them away in the beach sand.

I hear that Kansas City might be persuaded to give up Romeo Crennel.
An interesting experiment would be to give my boys a can and a can opener and ask them to get the contents of the can out. I’m pretty sure they’ve never done it in their lives (18 and 20).
I think there is a 99.5% chance that it would not occur to them to poke holes 180 degrees apart.
Get Joe Kapp! I think he owns a restaurant out in CA. With all the new regs and taxes there, he should be ready for a move.
That is what I thought when I heard pull tabs as well. I was trying to make sense of it.
Boy you can say that again! I hated those damn things. That and still lit cigarette butts. OUCH!
