Obama (or at least his handlers) know a little about Sun Tzu warfare. Deliberately playing weak in public, while mustering strength in secret, is just such a method. Obama is publically signaling weakness on this issue, article after article making him out to be the underdog against the all-powerful NRA. But he is, as the consummate community organizer, focusing his strength on where the real battle is being fought, local communities, and his “shock troops” appear to be gathering for “war” right here in Illinois, as this post from KeyLargo in the Illinois forum demonstrates:

These people are the real deal - the hard core top dogs of the gun control movement. These are the people leading the charge to raid your gun safe and confiscate and destroy your guns. These are the people who want to prevent you from carrying defensive firearms. These are the people who don’t care if you or your family members are raped, robbed and murdered by violent criminals. They only care about one thing - disarming you.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRO-GUN PEOPLE
1. Plan to be at the Wilmette Library between 1:00 and 1:30 so that you can get a seat. At past events like these, the anti-gunners try to play a game claiming that the room is “full” so as to deny entry to pro-gun people. Our aim is to ensure that there are more of OUR people there than THEIR people.
2. Be observant of abuses of your First Amendment rights by village officials. Get the name and title of any official who attempts to suppress your right of free association, assembly and speech.
3. If you have an I-GOLD t-shirt, hat, or badge, wear it! If you have an ISRA hat or an NRA hat, wear it!
4. If you see members of the media there, don’t wait for them to come to you. Rather, actively approach them, tell them you are a law-abiding firearm owner, and then tell them that you adamantly oppose punitive gun control laws being proposed by the organizers, Obama, and Emanuel. Make sure the media hears our side of the story first, and often!
5. Bring your children, grand children, and other young people with you. They are the next generation of patriots. Let them see how effective grassroots organizing works! If there is a question and answer session, have your children ask the organizers why they want to leave kids and their parents defenseless against criminals.
6. Be polite, but be assertive. Do not let the anti-gunners shout you down. Defend your 2nd Amendment with passion. If you have a smart phone, video as much of the proceedings as you can.
7. Remember, this is our Lexington, this is our Concord. Be prepared to teach the gun controllers a lesson in Liberty.

Bottom line, while I think we do have an excellent chance of winning, we have to proactively disrupt any and all “community organizing” aimed at dismantling our Second Amendment rights. If Obama’s anti-gun ground troops can flip, or even just appear to flip, key local battleground counties, he can persuade otherwise “safe” members of congress to abandon all reason and vote against their Second Amendment constituencies. Obama is also a skillful illusionist. I think with Obamacare he was twisting the arms of individuals who he knew would be destroyed in the 2010 election. He didn’t care. As long as the illusion of safety he created in their head helped him achieve his goal, that was all that mattered.
That’s why we have to vigilantly keep him from getting away with the illusion he is attempting now. And he has a willing accomplice in our governor. Quinn will want to emulate Bloomberg, but he doesn’t have the votes, yet. If Obama’s people can provide the appearance of cover, those “safe” votes could flip, and Illinois could go down to the gun grabbers, at least until the next big SCOTUS decision, and that could mean years of oppression here. And as more states go that way, the harder it will be to stop the group think, which is Obama’s (and any dictator’s) secret weapon. Most people don’t like to be too different from their neighbors. Just the way it is. So we have to win here.
Obama’s plan sets up a showdown between a gun-control movement re-energized by the massacre of 20 children and six adults last month at a Connecticut school, and a powerful gun-rights lobby led by the National Rifle Association, which has blocked new action on gun control for almost two decades.
It sets up a showdown between those Americans who believe in the Constitution and those who would take away our ability to fight the tyranny of a Government run by a Dictator who believes he is “The One”.

My dictionary says, "to infringe is to encroach on a right or privilege or to violate". So how can a mandatory background check on every gun recipient whether by sale, trade, gift, swap, etc, not be an infringement on the RKBA?
Fact of the matter is, the mandatory BATFE background check on every gun dealer's firearm sale is nothing less than registering that firearm to the buyer along with his/her address so the feds will know who has it and where to find it when the time comes to pick um all up. And don't believe the feds when they say those records are destroyed after a certain length of time. According to a writer for a gun magazine who interviewed a former BATFE agent in his column a few years ago those records are stored for 20 years in an underground warehouse in West Virginia along with literally tons of other various records. The BATFE doesn't admit that, but they will lie about that just as most other fed agencies will when it's something we lowly US citizens aren't supposed to know.
As far as I am concerned, the U.S. Government and the State of CT enabled the Sandy Hook shooting. The State created the Gun Free Zone and made it possible for that homocidal maniac to remain free and unattended. Congress et.al. can analyze to its hearts content but until the two above mentioned failings are eliminated they will only be punnishing the innocent for what the criminals do.
