President Obama Undermines Case Against Universal E-Verify [re: gun control]
FEDERATION FOR AMERICAN IMMIGRATION REFORM (FAIR) ^ | JANUARY 17, 2013 | IRA MEHLMAN

"First, it's time for Congress to require a universal background check on anyone trying to buy a gun." These were President Obama's words as he outlined his plans for gun control legislation on Wednesday.

FAIR takes no position on gun issues, but the president's unequivocal support for universal checks demonstrates two things:

  1. The president does not consider background checks to be an infringement on anyone’s constitutional liberties, and
  2. The president does not consider there to be any technological impediments to carrying out universal checks before someone is permitted to purchase a firearm.

In making his statement, President Obama also negated the most frequently offered arguments against making E-Verify checks universal. If all gun dealers can be required to make sure that a customer meets eligibility standards to purchase a gun, why can't all employers be required to check that the people they hire meet the eligibility requirements to hold a job? If existing technology and databases are reliable enough to determine someone's fitness to own a weapon, shouldn't existing technology and databases be reliable enough to determine someone's eligibility to work in the United States?

Just wondering.

This is a brilliantly written article describing why liberal rules and laws only apply to conservatives. It deserves re-posting wherever the subject comes up as it explains the cognitive dissonance.

That’s right. There should be a background check on everyone who votes.

Shouldn’t we require that all voters pass a background check and produce ID when they exercise that right? If I have to do so to exercise my 2nd Amendment rights then why not require everyone to do the same to vote?

If the system is in place to check my background records and see that I am legal to own a gun, then the very same system should be in place to verify that Pedro is legal or not to vote, to use our welfare system, to work, to use the hospital or doctor and to let his kids attend school.

Yeah- NY State wants to know where all the legal gun owners are and what guns they have. But they do not give a dam to find out how many illegal aliens there are in the state, where they are and what illegal guns they have- This is aiding and abetting- Cuomo and his cohors should be in jail. Hell, I know where the criminals are- they are in Albany. Impeach the Cuomonist bastard!

Nope. His history is too shady. The feds do make house calls whenever you apply for a position of trust which is most government jobs.

They do make re-investigations after ten years but he will be gone before he’s due again.

Maybe it even deserves to be the basis of another white house petition.

I like the idea of sending the cognitive dissonance right back home where it belongs. Make the leftists address it publicly.

I feel better knowing that I am not the only one who sees this hypocrisy. E-verify violates privacy, they say, to cover the fact that dear leader can’t pass the E-verify mustard. It should be impossible for these idiots to effectively neuter 2nd amendment rights through arbitrary mental health screenings, regulations, unlawful executive orders, forced registration, etc., yet continue to fill buses at every special needs facility with the mentally challenged and demented to benefit the demonrats in upcoming elections. It SHOULD be, except 50% of Americans are so uneducated, so deluded, so dependent, their numbed brains fail to register the hypocrisy.

These Marxists must have the votes of idiots, illegals, and the cognitively challenged. To be sure, liberal thinking is such that, if you have the capacity (memory, thinking, language, judgment, and behavior skills ) to climb aboard the First United Mt. Zion Holiness Church of the Jump and Run (after, of course, someone kindly secures your name and address to your shirt pocket with a safety pin and hands you a free biscuit), it is perfectly prudent, acceptable, and politically correct that you exercise your RIGHT to vote!!!! And NO I.D required! Perfectly FIT to vote, not REGISTERED on a list ANYWHERE as a real person (much less a citizen), yet perfectly FIT to VOTE.

It is subversion of the Constitution, usurpation of our nation by an internal enemy and treason of the highest order.
