A New Jersey assemblywoman has introduced a bill that would add an extra 5 percent sales tax on guns and ammunition.

The money would fund safety improvements to public buildings.

Since the incident in Newtown, you start to listen to people. I’m listening to students, I’m listening to educators, I’m listening to everybody,” said Assemblywoman Connie Wagner (D-Bergen). “I think the first thing has to be to take care of our infrastructure. then comes up the second question, well how are we going to pay for this?”

Under the bill (A3727), gun purchasers would pay the extra sales tax on top of the current 7 percent sales tax.

I start tobacco seeds in the window box in just 12 more days.

Just like I do every year since 2009.

More than one way to avoid the revenuers.

Same here. Government needs me much, much more than I need them. All they can do is break things and kill people.

I make stuff. And make stuff work.

A 5% surtax prevents the next Sandy Hook mass shooting how?

This is the problem: Politicians couldn't WAIT to go stand on the dead bodies of those 20 children and find away to profit from it.

That fat bastard Christie and his newfound lover Barack Hussein Obama just make me want to vomit.

Yo Connie! If you’re “listening to everybody” then listen to me. Stop dancing in the blood of those children and stop exploiting their deaths for YOUR dumbass TAX INCREASE. You moronic, commie lib politicians are pathetic! You all make me sick.

I’m a little surprised the tax isn’t higher than that. Of course, we all know taxes always start small, and continue to grow and grow as time goes by.

That sucker will hit 25% before ya know it! Will be interesting to see what measures folks will take to avoid compliance, which is common for most all such taxes.

What in the hell does "the infrastructure" have to do with school shootings, you opportunistic, socialist, ghoul?

Here's an idea: introduce a "murder tax". That'll do about as much good as making schools "gun free zones".

Isn’t this an ethics issue for them. They are profiting from “something that kills people.”

Oh thats right. They are a bunch of greedy politicians looking for excuses to tax the people. It has nothing to do with protecting the people and all about money.

Slimebags.

I’d make them a deal. I’ll pay the 5% if they let me buy a gun cash and carry. No check, not waiting.

That should be OK with them, after all they’re safe in their newly fortified buildings.

Why not bring back the poll tax, or an “editorial” tax on newspapers, maybe a prayer tax. Will we remain silent when, next, the Feds impose licensing requirements to practice our religion or post on FreeRepublic? If we allow our rights to be taxed or licensed, are they really rights?

Oh I get it. This woman is happy to exploit the dead children at Sandy Hook if it means she gets her building improvements. Shocked? No,she’s a lib. She’d have her own children killed (or aborted) and claim it should lead to other public programs if she could get by with it.

Wonder why I said “if”,,,obviously it IS standard operating procedure to a liberal.

I think they’re gonna run into a problem with “Minneapolis Star v. Minnesota Comm’r - 460 U.S. 575 (1983)” since the 2nd amendment is so fundamental.

If you can’t have a special ink tax for the printing press because it violates the 1st amendment then it would seem that would carry over.
