Update: Hotel rooms still available for low-interest inauguration

A few days ago, I checked with a half-dozen Washington-area hotels, ranging from the luxe Willard Intercontinental to the not-so-luxe Hampton Inn, and found that all had rooms available for this weekend’s Obama inauguration festivities. That was a huge change from Obama’s first inauguration, in January 2009, when nearly all the area’s hotel rooms were sold out.

On Saturday, as Obama supporters arrived for the Monday ceremony, I checked with those hotels again. I asked if they had a room available for arrival on Saturday, staying three nights and departing on Tuesday, January 22. All still have rooms available.

Earlier this week, downtown’s Grand Hyatt had standard guest rooms available for $499 a night. They still do.

The reason is racism. No matter what happens, that’s the reason.

Two young black men, that my son knew, came into the pharmacy today and talked about leaving for the festivities in Washington. They would be attending events tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday, all expenses paid, by the DNC. One young man laughed and said, “We didn’t even vote for Obama this time, because of his stance on gays.”

The Dems will fill the seats.

BTW, investigated that 3’ deep trench they dug down by Boone.. no artifact strata to be found.

Are you talking about the trench at the end of Boone in Cody Park? If so, that was dug to keep non POA people from sneaking into the park.

If you need in, send me a FR mail and I'll get you a hang tag and let you into the gate. BTW, the west end where the generator is being used to power the water pump is where my coworker is finding points.
