please do read the article. It isn’t the Pope who said anything. It was a priest who spoke for himself.

Baloney, he spoke for the pope, unless i hear the pope fire him, discipline him, or force him disavow his opinion from that of the pope’s.

Why?

He is the Press office director of the Vatican. It’s a little far out to think that in a disciplined organization like that, in the position he holds, that he is out freelancing opinions -in editorials- that are in direct oppositon to those of the pope.
If he doesn’t release something fast saying “this was my opinion, and i was wrong” or “the pope supports the American freedoms that saved the Vatican and millions of catholics from the nazis”. Then i think it’s safe to assume the pope shares his opinion.
