I see the anti-Catholic bandwagon has shown up as usual.
We have moved a few times in our 18 year marriage. Out of the four different parishes we have been involved in, not a single one of them would be what I would consider a ‘liberal’ parish. Either we are some of the luckiest bastards on the planet moving to conservative Catholic churches four different times, or the Church isn’t in as bad of shape that the MSM and a few FReepers have made us out to be. I will concede that among the bishops in the U.S., we seemed to be sorely lacking in leadersip, but check out the faithful. Check out our priest, who has many times railed against abortion, birth control, and socialized medicine (both in his homilies and from casual conversations). Our little parish is the only Catholic church in Gallia Co., Ohio. Yet, my husband goes to work with plenty of non-Catholic ‘Christians’ who think the sun rises and sets around ‘he who must not be named’ and the Democrat party in general. Trying to find an Democrat bumper sticker around election time in our church parking lot is darn near impossible. Some of us still put our faith and our principles above politics and popular culture.
We bought our daughter a .22 rifle for Christmas (her siblings were jealous). Not only is shooting a normal rite of passage in these parts among our young people, but the Monday after Thanksgiving is a day off of school in our district for the beginning of deer hunting season.
we need more first time buyers.
ownership should be as ubiquitous as TV’s
option A, you’ve been lucky bastards, because B, the church IS in that bad a shape. They voted Obama again. Nuff said. And why not? Catholics believe in huge bureaucracies and infra structures as a way to handle social issues, so they are perfect liberals out of the gate on many issues.
