Susan Eisenhower Takes Aim at the NRA
American Thinker ^ | January 20, 2013 | Tom Roberson

Susan Eisenhower recently took umbrage at the NRA's recent ad pointing out the hypocrisy of Obama having armed guards protecting his family while pushing gun control on America.

Ms. Eisenhower points out correctly that President Obama's family requires Secret Service protection due to the high profile of his office. In today's world, there is no shortage of terrorists, lunatics, fanatics, and just plain aggrieved who would relish the opportunity to visit evil upon the leader of the free world in pursuit of their twisted priorities. She also points out that, having been the recipient of Secret Service protection as a child, she brings a unique perspective to this debate. Ms. Eisenhower criticizes the NRA ad as disgusting because it singles out the president's family when their high profile makes them an exception.

I disagree that the NRA ad in question is over the top or disgusting. Yes, as a high profile leader, President Obama and his family do face a greater threat than the ordinary American and thus Secret Service protection is warranted. Neither the NRA ad nor I dispute this requirement. However, they face threats which are just as undefined to them as to any other American seeking to protect his home and family. The only difference is that the threat to them is recognized and proper steps are taken to protect them. All we Americans are asking is the right to recognize that we should be allowed to protect ourselves from existing threats.

Susan knows how to keep her bread buttered. Her Grandfather's party will have nothing to do with her so she switches to endorse Obummer in 2008 and again in 2012. She is a socialist sympathizer at best. She will continue to have “Phoney-Baloney Jobs”.

Susan can't be very bright, not seeing that the NRA ad had nothing to do with Obummer, only his daughters.

Obama has stated that Al Quadea is on the decline, The War on Terrorism is over. (Yeah, right, dumbkopf Obama). So soft targets are what the Muslims will seek - Churches in America, Grocery Stores, Shopping Malls, Sporting Events and Entertainment Venues. Guns do not kill the people it has to have someone pull the trigger. Liberals are not arguing so much about gun rights it is governmental control of the everyday life of America. Susan Eisenhower is a nut job.

Sidwell Friends School has more of the elite from DC whom attend, it is not just Obama’s children but other federal employees, senators house representatives, doctors, lawyers and lobbyists

With respect to rogue tragedies like Aurora and Newtown which Ms Eisenhower “forgot” to mention in her article (corrections welcome), her argument concerning special security considerations for VIPs doesn’t hold water imo.

But what about the 11 security guards at the school that aren’t a part of the Secret Service? She doesn’t address that.

Sidwell Friends would have armed guards regardless whether or not the president would send his children there.

Of course, these liberals never bother to bring that up.

IMO the NRA was clear they were talking about the armed guards at the school and not the SS.

Pinheads just hear what they want to hear no matter how clear you are.

The volume of denouncement from the elites provoked by this ad is testament to its effectiveness.

Strange, when I listened to the NRA ad I thought they were pointing out the hypocrisy of the elites in this country sending their children to private schools (this one had 11 armed guards before Zero’s kids ever arrived) and having Zero tell the peons in America they should not have armed guards at their schools. I never heard anything about Secret Service. What is she talking about?

Her “umbrage” will make her a hit on the elite cocktail party circuit. But I’m sure it had nothing to do with that.

Here's a job posting from Sidwell Friends School for a Special Police Officer. Sidwell Friends Posting In the District of Columbia, only police officers and members of the military (in the course of their duties only) can lawfully carry loaded firearms. Thus, security personnel who work in an armed capacity must be commissioned as District of Columbia Special Police Officers in order to carry a weapon (this law does not apply on federal property, so security personnel who work in federal buildings do not have to become DC SPO's, although their guns may not leave their building under any circumstances).

That’s the thing about people like Susan Eisenhower: they make their public prouncements, then retreat to the comfort and high praise of a self reinforcing echo chamber.

If these people ever had to actually go out into the public square and be questioned ( if not challenged ) on the opinions they are given a platform to make, I think they’d all be singing a different tune.

Spouting off is one thing, having to go out and actually defend it quite another.

The first question I’d ask Susan would be if she knew how many high-capacity (more than 7 rounds ) assault ( military style semi automatic ) rifles were efficiently and cheaply put into the hands of the civilian public through the open sale of surplus M1 Garands and M1 Carbines.

“In today’s world, there is no shortage of terrorists, lunatics, fanatics, and just plain aggrieved who would relish the opportunity to visit evil upon the leader of the free world in pursuit of their twisted priorities.”

So, if it was just a normal murderer, rapist or thief who didn’t know it was the First Family, the Secret Service would do nothing?
