Public relationswise, the gun-control movement could hardly have a worse champion than CNNs Piers Morgan. Hes haughty, hes self-righteous, and, worst of all, hes foreign. For the Second Amendment freaks who see Barack Obama as suspiciously un-American, his government as potentially tyrannical, and themselves as heirs to the gun toters who shot their way to liberty at Lexington and Concord, what better foil than a modern-day gun confiscator who actually is English. For years, American conservatives have been calling American liberals wannabe Europeans. Now, with America witnessing its nastiest culture-war skirmish since Bill Clintons impeachment, the man helping to lead the liberal charge really does hail from that socialist dystopia across the pond. No wonder more than 100,000 Americans have called for his deportation to the land of Neville Chamberlain and King George III.
And yet, when I watch Piers Morgan these days, I smile. Its not because Morgans views on guns are correct, although I think they are. Or because his arguments are especially clever. What I love about Morgan is precisely what the gun enthusiasts hate: his foreignness. When American liberals discuss their fellow citizens love affair with guns, they often strain to show cultural sensitivity, either because they know its politically necessary or because they dont want to sound like foreigners in their own land. Thus, they pledge fealty to the Second Amendment (even if they think its an absurd anachronism) and vow never to infringe on the rights of hunters (even if they consider shooting ducks both idiotic and gross). Not Morgan. When denouncing Americas gun culture, he generally sounds both astonished and appalled, like a missionary who has just been told that the natives hes been sent to civilize periodically barbecue their wives...

It's better if the enemies of freedom uncloak first.
Clears up any lingering ambiguity later.
They show NO sensitivity or any of the tolerance they love to espouse towards ANYTHING that they disagree with.
Let Mark Steyn debate him on this issue.
Game set match. Period dot BINGO.
I don't know any gun owner who feels the 2nd amendment is an anachronism.
We need to start attacking their beloved 1st amendment because, after all, it's an anachronism.
At their best, they are a notch or two more literate and expressive than we are, it seems to me. I envy them that.
I think Piers is our best friend. He’s doing more to fight gun control than anybody. If I didn’t despise him so much, I’d send him a thank-you note on an NRA notecard. He is our best advertisement: a whiny, effeminate, self-obsessed foreign national puking to Americans about how icky and nasty guns are? It’s perfect.
“We need to start attacking their beloved 1st amendment because, after all, it’s an anachronism.”
They only like the First Amendment when we had no media and they did.
They despise the First Amendment when we use it.
You have a better chance of being impeached than he does.
Piers Morgan IS the ideal spokesman for gun control.
“If you had a gun, you’d shoot me right now, wouldn’t you?”
REAL Americans don’t give a tinker’s dam what foreigners think about our gun rights under a Constitution that can exist only in America.
Beinhart’s regard for P**s Morgan shows just how much out of touch he is with the American mainstream. Typical elitist.
Hunters just aren’t his kind of people. Who cares?
Piers Morgan is the poster boy for undiagnosed mental illness.
“Second amendment freaks.
That be us.
So, this is what the statists think of the BOR and the Constitution.
We already knew, but now they are showing their contempt openly.
