The M16 would not be my First Choice for a PDW.My First Choice would be an FN P-90.

The P-90 is designed for Close quarters combat and if someone has broke into your home that’s what your going to have.

My FFL had a PS-90 (semi-auto version) a few years back. It's an odd duck. Ammo was hard to find at the time and prospects for a good supply didn't look good. As such, I passed on the opportunity. Topped with a Trijicon sight for low light use, it is pretty capable. The brass drops straight down and it is ambidextrous (fired equally well by a left handed or right handed shooter).
