“How exactly will society function when half the population was raised in this manner; without work ethic, dependent on government handouts, and without a father for moral guidance? Will the other half work twice as hard to support these crime prone vagabonds through redistributive taxation? And why should we be surprised when these morally bankrupt government dependents vote for the welfare king, Barack I?
God help our children, because the United States as we know it has ceased to exist.”

The simple answer is that, after a while, it won’t function any longer.

The United States hasn’t “ceased to exist” quite yet, and it still has a way to go before that can happen. But it’s entirely feasible that within the lifetimes of the younger folks reading this, it -will- cease to “exist”, at least in its present form of borders, and quite possibly, government.

This is why the continuing “divide” between the red states and the blue states is becoming more important. As the blue states become more dysfunctional, the red states seem to be “holding on” somewhat to the more traditional “old ways”. We are even seeing the beginnings of a mass-migration of the “producing citizens” from the blue “entitlee states” into the red “producer states”. The result is the reds will get redder as the blues get bluer.

If at some point the entire national government teeters on the verge of collapse (at least financial collapse), the red states may find themselves in a position to literally “break away” from the sinking blues.

But I don’t think that can happen until the DC government is broke — and by “broke” I mean that Social Security recipients stop receiving their deposits at the beginning of the month, the EBT cards run out and are no longer replenished, and the doctors and hospitals stop receiving Medicare/Medicaid payments from the government. Perhaps when the members of the U.S. military find they are no longer being paid, as well.

If it comes down to that, will they be willing to fight and die to preserve a “union” that no longer seems willing or even able to pay them?

Really good post, food for thought.

We are even seeing the beginnings of a mass-migration of the “producing citizens” from the blue “entitlee states” into the red “producer states”. The result is the reds will get redder as the blues get bluer.

This is actually a key point. There are some incidences of it, but I'm not sure it is happening on large scale yet - nor is it all to the benefit of the red states. I am in Virginia and we watch our influx of immigrants and transients from other states simply vote the way they did back home. They are like locusts, they don't connect their voting habits to the basketcase status their home states have. Also remember a lot of red states are being overrun by Hispanic demographics which are a solid Democrat voting block.

Still, this is vitally important. Red states need to become redder in order to go in exactly the opposite direction as the blues. That means red states need to advertise in blue states on issues that are very likely to encourage conservative migration to said red state. A good example is 2nd amendment preservation. You run ads in New York encouraging gun owners to move to Texas, and your almost certainly importing Republicans to the Lone Star State.

The more we can push this divide, the more pressure is on blue states to compete. And they can't, and they probably know it. That will mean the left will attempt to use the Federal Govt to level the playing field by imposing the high taxation and onerous rules on all states equally (something they already know is important to their movement). This might provoke a fight sooner rather than later between red states and the Federal Government, perhaps before everything has gone to hell and there is nothing left to save.
