Didn’t Vanessa Williams do this at a sporting event once (where the single was already recorded to be released after “the public demand”)? Sometime in the late 1980s or early 1990s?
Didn’t see her performance ..but Kelly Clarkson sure belted it out ....was definitely NOT lip synched.
Fake song, fake ceremony. Just as well since the woman can’t sing. Her voice is on par with a dull file sliding over the edge of a piece of tin.

Was there a Fly-By? If so then she has to have it recorded and start at a certain time. The pilots turn in for the Fly-By at the point in the timing when the singer hits the home of the brave.
The top 10 plays are the top 10 plays because they’re fun to watch. Makes no matter what color it is of the guy making the play.

Ah, but then I took a moment to read many of your recent posts.
I think FR is done.
Does this really matter? I think not. It is very common for performers to record performances (even of the Star Spangled Banner) in advance to mitigate potential problems that can arise during the live performance. The cold weather and other factors could lead to a less than desirable vocal performance.
We need to choose our battles and not be out here making fools of ourselves by pointing out something so insignificant and truly unimportant. It makes us all look petty. Come on?!?
A lot of great performers have pre-recorded the Star Spangled Banner for large events. Whitney Houston, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and many more pre-recorded it for their Superbowl performances.
The criticism of Beyonce is justified, but criticism of the band IS NOT.
The performance was SUPPOSED to be live.
Beyonce did not show up for rehearsal with the band as scheduled. So at the last minute she decides she wants to lip synch it. So the band has to spend Sunday evening until late in the recording studio laying down the track with her.
Then the band members have to report for duty at 4 AM on Monday morning to assemble for the inauguration.
After sitting all morning at the inauguration, the band was required to assemble at 1:30 PM for the parade. They stood for three hours waiting for the parade to start. All the marchers stood and waited in the cold for that long - little kids, high schoolers, etc.
The parade was delayed for an hour or more because the luncheon went overtime due to the long winded gasbag speakers and all the time allotted to wardrobe changes, hair, make up, etc.
The band members are consummate professionals and follow orders to a T without a complaint.

Yeah, shove it. Does EVERYTHING here have to be racial? ESPN is picking the top 10 plays now because of the color of the guy making the play? yeah... right.
I can’t stand Obama because he’s an arrogant prick who has no clue how the free market works, and would rather drag everyone down to a government-mandated level of shared mediocrity and misery instead of letting individuals succeed and prosper. He’s a nightmare for the country. I couldn’t care less what color he is.
