So why were our operations in Iraq not a total success, and why can’t we seem to deliver the coup de grâce to a rag-tag Taliban army?

They grew too comfortable in their fancy headquarters, eating foods that many Americans would have to save for two weeks for one meal at a mid-level restaurant.

But afterwards, when the insurgency began, they were taken by surprise. No general had foreseen it, and few, if any, had intellectually prepared themselves for this new kind of war.

Taken by surprise my rear end. They were incompetent. It was well know that the Fedayeen Militia would go underground and continue to fight.
There was no excuse for the misconception that all Iraqi's would welcome us as liberators.

re: 17 If you’ve never seen a General’s entourage, you’d be blown away by how he/she is treated like a prince/princess.

I’ve dealt with these folks, every single one of them could be charged with mis-appropriation of government funds.

I haven’t seen a General staff without a cute young femal E-5. Just sayin’.
