Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D., R.I.) came out today to the media, calling for the United States to take an active role in the Syrian Civil War that has claimed the lives of over 600,000, half of which are civilians.
Whitehouse spoke in favor of direct U.S. intervention, comparing it the U.S. helping the Allied Forces in Europe in World War I.
So, the administration thinks we're French?
We’re unseating yet another nasty hard dictator, so that radical Islam can take over on Israel’s north border.
What could go wrong?
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Terrific. The debts the French crown ran up supporting the American War of Independence broke the government and led to the French Revolution.
0bama has been itching to be the hero to his muzzie bros, but it’s a big mistake to think that radical muzzies would respond in a logical manner.
>>So, the administration thinks we’re French?
I think he’s referring to the quote, “Lafayette, we are here.” that was said when US troops first arrived in France.
But, this is NOT a moment like that. This is messy civil war where both sides are not good guys. We picked a winner in Egypt and Libya and both turned out to be a huge mistake.
we have no dog in that fight - stay out!!!!
Syria is Russia’s ally....You better get Russian approval in writing....and that ain’t going to happen. Any action by us might just be enough to tip Iran to make some kind of move.
Agreed. It would also let them all kill each other without our people being involved. Just hope Hillary stops by for a visit before the chaos begins.
I say arm each side, eat popcorn, and sit back and watch the fireworks.
I would be more inclined to topple Assad if there was some chance the replacement wasn’t Muslim Brotherhood.
But considering the MB ally sitting in the White House, thats pretty much a foregone conclusion.
We’ve gone from chasing AQ to toppling governments on their behalf.
Obama does, and he's been speaking for all of us lately.
“Agreed. It would also let them all kill each other without our people being involved. Just hope Hillary stops by for a visit before the chaos begins.”
Not one more precious American youth’s life or another penny from our treasury for this nest of snakes. Drop a plane load of pigs followed by a plane load of AK-47’s and let the towel heads gun each other down trying get rid of the porkers! If that part of the planet ceased to exist tomorrow it would be too soon. All the better if Hitlary happened to be there with JF Kerry on a “diplomatic mission.”
Deja vu? Well, at least we were engaged in Iraq well over 10 years before we interviened. (2 August 1990)
With all that prep for Iraq, you’d think they’d have figured it out. Not so much.
This is like the Spanish Civil War. There are a few good guys on both sides, but overall, both sides are pretty reprehensible. We should covertly lightly support whoever is doing least well and drag this thing out as long as possible.
Or just stay out of it entirely, which is my preferred course.
This Democrat is batguano crazy.
I think 600,000 is wildly overstated.
600,000? I think that’s 10 times the number I read just a few days ago.
Even so, note the silence from the Left on the number killed.
That precipitated just all sorts of things ~ and the American Revolution did play a part, but not by bankrupting France. The government would have been bankrupt anyway or a great number of reasons.
It's noteworthy that en route to a modern national assembly most of the delegates to the meeting of the Church's estate showed up with the Commons!
That was a signal that some really big social change was going to occur, and boy did it.
As usual the Royal family itself was the first to split wide open ~ the Bouille family (all close cousins) were all over the place, from trying to depose the king to trying to protect the king, to some out pressing for American style governmental reforms (See Lafayette).
This is not a Lafayette moment ~ possibly a Robespierre/Danton sort of knockdown dragout ~ but not anything else.
We really have no business getting involved in genocide again ~ particularly on the wrong side!
