“What we know is that Phil treasures his endorsement income, that he is privately a bit conservative, and that he has a PR agent perhaps who lets him know when it is wise to speak and when to be silent.”

You are correct. Moving off of plain vanilla is going to alienate someone, some people, so hurts his value as a celebrity endorser. So not only does California screw him on income taxes, he loses endorsement income too

Dennis, you want vanilla? Talk to Mitt Romney.

Romney is 0-calorie, no-fat, no-sugar, artificial vanilla-flavored, non-dairy, gluten-free, whipped school-lunch dessert product. Tell me again how this blandissimo geek in the weird underwear got to be my candidate for President.

IMNSVHO, Mickelson's advisors were wrong to have him apologize. Like-minded tough-guy FUO golfers would flock to by his endorsed products.

My guess is that Mikelson will quietly move out of California in a year or so. Florida would be the most likely spot, with Texas in the running.
