That is true. The MSG are there to protect classified materials and equipment first. They are not a personnel protection detail. The host government is ultimately responsible for protecting diplomatic facilities and personnel. If the host government can't, our people shouldn't be there.

Yes, because that is their role. The Marines at embassies are highly HIGHLY trained individuals whose main objective is the protection and (should it be required) swift destruction of classified materials.

That may very well be what ‘we’ tell the host country in regards to our having Armed USMC types on scene.

Like ‘the Special Asst to the Ambassador’ is NEVER the CIA Station Chief....or some other supposed job...because we have NO CIA people at the Embassy etc etc etc....(TIC)
