The gun grabber's bill compendium, updated (almost) daily:

House Bills:
HR 21: NRA Members' Gun Safety Act of 2013.
HR 34: Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2013.
HR 117: Handgun Licensing and Registration Act of 2013.
HR 137: Fix Gun Checks Act of 2013.
HR 138: Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device Act.
HR 141: Gun Show Loophole Closing Act of 2013.
HR 142: Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act of 2013.
HR 226: Support Assault Firearms Elimination and Reduction for our Streets Act.
HR 227: Buyback Our Safety Act.
HR 236: Crackdown on Deadbeat Gun Dealers Act of 2013.
HR 238: Fire Sale Loophole Closing Act.
HR 329: To amend the NICS Improvement Amendments Act of 2007 to encourage States to provide records to the National Instant Background Check System.

Senate Bills:
S22: A bill to establish background check procedures for gun shows.
S33: A bill to prohibit the transfer or possession of large capacity ammunition feeding devices, and for other purposes.
S34: A bill to increase public safety by permitting the Attorney General to deny the transfer of firearms or the issuance of firearms and explosives licenses to known or suspected dangerous terrorists.
S35: A bill to require face to face purchases of ammunition, to require licensing of ammunition dealers, and to require reporting regarding bulk purchases of ammunition.
S54: A bill to increase public safety by punishing and deterring firearms trafficking. (My interpretation - "trafficking" = "Private Sales")

An interesting side note:
HR 339: To require the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives to make video recordings of the examination and testing of firearms and ammunition, and for other purposes.

TOPICS:
KEYWORDS: banglist; bills; guncontrol; guns; legislation; resolutions; secondamendment
The Senate has started to drop anti-2A bills, and the House has added a couple.

Time to get out pen and paper, if you haven't already.
The majority of these bills are in the Judiciary committee.
Bottling them up in committee is our first line of defense - if they aren't reported out of committee, we won't have the risk of rinos voting for them. Write your congress-critter AND the committee members.
Succinct, cogent arguments and not emotional displays are our best bet.

Now go git 'em!

I’ll call their “gun” laws, and raise them a 2nd ammendment all about firearms, all firearms.

I’d love to contact my Senator. (Jeff Flake) but he doesn’t yet have an e-mail address and I wonder if calling his office is worth while. McCain of course is just useless.

If that were everyone's take, their office would either get no calls (making them think no one is interested) or they would only get anti-2A calls (making think the district they "represent" is anti-2A).

Call them

Doctor probes teen on guns in the home - January 23, 2013 - In pro-gun-regulation Illinois — where politicians would rather play gun control politics than fight the murderous street gangs — a young man was admitted to the hospital.

We should send our legislators in the House and Senate a rubber” NO “ stamp and tell them to use it on all anti 2nd amendment legislation.

How about some of our own bills?

federally precluding states from adopting capacity standards less than 30 (since that is a magic number)

eliminating AG discretion and have “shall issue” type rules.

most of the compromise stuff seems to be from shop owners who hate private sales. Straw man deals are already illegal.

I agree!

The left doesn't expect to get every one of their proposals passed. They don't have to. Any proposal that passes is an incremental step closer to their goal and away from the second amendment.

We need to be pushing back in the opposite direction: asking our representatives to propose legislation repealing "Gun Free Zones", advancing Constitutional Carry, advancing Federal Concealed Carry, etc.

Write your local and federal representatives and senators.

Don't just give them your opinion. Ask them to provide answers to two questions:

How will you vote on anti-gun legislation?

Will you sponsor and/or support pro-gun legislation?

For those who live in Connecticut

ALERT! CT Plans To Bypass Public Hearings! Posted on January 18, 2013

According to recently published news accounts, your elected representatives in Hartford are planning to enact gun control laws without giving the people a chance to be heard. The CT Mirror reports:

Legislative leaders of both parties say their goal is to agree on proposals involving gun control, mental health and school safety that can go into an emergency-certified bill, a process that bypasses normal public hearing and committee processes. (emphasis mine)

The Norwich Bulletin thinks we have 6 weeks or less.

Legislative leaders, however, want to move quicker. They announced this week the formation of their own bipartisan group of committee chairmen and ranking members to study those same issues, but with a deadline of late February to produce a bipartisan “emergency certified bill.”

By the way, the Bulletin is apparently ok with shutting out the public; they just wish it would happen quicker.

Remember, the legislators work for us. We vote them into office to represent our views. We are supposed to have a say in what laws govern us.

The legislative task force that is to put forth this emergency-certified bill is made up of 4 senior lawmakers, Senate President Pro Tem Donald E. Williams Jr.(D-Brooklyn), House Speaker J. Brendan Sharkey(D-Hamden), House Minority Leader Lawrence F. Cafero Jr.(R-Norwalk) and Senate Minority Leader John McKinney(R-Fairfield). It is vitally important to contact these 4 people (if you click on the names above, it will take you to their respective websites with contact info), especially if you live in their district. Explain to them not only do you oppose more gun control, but you oppose bypassing the chance for the public to speak directly to the legislators at a public hearing. The public hearing dates back to the beginnings of this nation, and is one of America’s founding principles. Our elected officials must NOT sidestep this process.

UPDATE: CCDL President Scott Wilson has issued a formal statement. You may read it here.

UPDATE 2: The task force will be having hearings BEFORE they submit a bill. More info here.

My experience:

phone calls to person in Congress: polite boilerplate response

emails: 20% response, all boilerplate

paper mail: 65% response, all boilerplate

Utility of contacting Congress: zero.

I have given up up writing and calling due to a lack of interest on their part. I am instead buying as much weaponry and ammo as I can afford (and some I can’t.) I think they are getting THAT message loud and clear.
