It’s a really vicious cycle we are in right now. Obama is DEFINITELY killing jobs, especially small businesses and he’s growing the government which as a producer, does nothing but take resources and mostly squander them. Technology has definitely replaced humans in the workplace & will continue to do so - I’ve worked in a small business (35 employees) and been able to automate (with one program) payroll, timesheets, A/R, A/P, and project management. I could run it all for the most part and did for several years ... didn’t need an A/R person plus an A/P person and a payroll person. One brother is an industrial engineer so he is constantly looking at automation opportunities. Regardless of what people think of Obama and the damage he’s doing, technology/automation is a factor in today’s job loss situation; however, it does take a business to automate/hire people and Obama is making sure such opportunities are becoming extinct.

Yeah, I don't doubt all that, but NO jobs are being CREATED under Obama! That puts us in the cycle you suggest, a cycle that forces businesses to automate as fast as possible to offset the rapidly growing cost of doing business under Obama.

It’s a factor, okay, but it’s a longterm factor. It has nothing to do with this recession in particular and is ongoing during boom times, too.

One thing that I think we can easily do is fight for more homeschooling. This has many benefits, as it can take unemployed people who are discouraged, and immediately give them something productive and rewarding to do, and it does not cost government money. Second, the homeschooled kids do learn more, and so they do get prepared to live in a new world of more intense competition for jobs.

I think red states should take the lead on this issue, it is easily a winnable issue for us.
