House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan is working on a budget that a spokesman says will balance in 10 years, according to a spokesman.

“Chairman Ryan looks forward to working with his colleagues to draft a responsible budget by the April 15 deadline. He hopes last week’s agreement helps spur action by his Senate counterparts to do the same,” Budget Committee spokesman Will Allison said. “With the right reforms put in place, Chairman Ryan’s goal is to advance a budget that balances within a decade.”

We need to replace this weakness. But I don’t think we have time.

Useless.

Puppet Ryan, you will lose congress in two years, and this will be as meaningless as anything else you are you ilk have ever done, which as a matter of fact is utterly nothing.

If this is the best you can do, then don’t even bother.

I gather you are against his PATH TO PROSPERITY plan... If so, can you tell us why you’re against it?

I want to go on a diet and lose 50 pounds, but I am only 40 pounds overweight. So I intend to gain 2 pounds a year over the next five years and then I will be able to lose those pesky 50 pounds within 10 years.

Pass the fried chicken and gravy.

Because it’s meaningless, just like I said in the post that you quoted.

The only path this country is on is to ruin.

I’m sure the budget will be no cuts the first year and steep cuts for the additional 9 years for which they don’t have the authority to bound future congresses to. I hope I am wrong, and I like Paul Ryan, but I am sick of the shell game.

I’ve said it a million times, “I could balance the budget in one hour without a tax increase. And I’d enjoy every minute of it.”

Who cares? It will never be honored because Democrats and many in the GOP will just ignore it. We have a politician problem in D.C. right now that will not allow any AMERICAN solutions to be implemented.

Lost me at “...will balance in 10 years”. What a crock.

Even if the entire Fed-Guv were to shut down tomorrow, there would not be enough money to pay the d@88 entitlements. That is the dirty little secret.

The best avenue of mitigation is to lower corporate and personal tax rates to fire sale levels to attract money from around the world before the big collapse.

Republicans are terrified of the massive social unrest that would follow the necessary budget cuts. Democrats and the bankster puppet-masters are uneasy about it, too, but it seems to be a full-on phobia with the GOP. I don't expect any serious debt reduction proposals to come from the Republican side - ever.

I read the replies on this thread and have to shake my head in sadness. 99% of Freepers have zero support for Paul Ryan’s attempt at coming up with a sensible 10 year plan, when he was being vilified for his “Path to Prosperity” which was a slower return to a balanced budget.

In other Freep threads, I’ve seen Freepers respond “don’t you dare touch MY Medicare!” or “MY Social Security!”

How do we expect this country to turn-around when even the people on “our side” can’t get behind a rational and needed budget and plan to turn this mess around? Very depressing and very discouraging.

Start with foreign aide!

The average American hasn’t a CLUE how much of our tax money Obama has sent down Muslim sh*t holes while he plans to slash the military, CUTS MEDICARE and threatens to withhold senior’s social security checks!

BILLIONS FOR JIHAD! Obamas 2009 Supplemental Appropriations for Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Pandemic Flu was revised and passed by the full committee. It gives billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to countries and entities that support Sharia law and/or harbor, hide and support those who want to destroy the U.S. and our allies. http://creepingsharia.wordpress.com/2009/05/1...

Read the summary from David Obeys office that was quietly released last week with nary a word from any media.

$3.6 BILLION, matching the request, to expand and improve capabilities of the Afghan security forces

$400 MILLION, as requested, to build the counterinsurgency capabilities of the Pakistani security forces

AFGHANISTAN: $1.52 BILLION, $86 MILLION above the request WEST BANK AND GAZA: $665 MILLION in bilateral economic, humanitarian, and security assistance for the West Bank and Gaza

JORDAN: $250 million,$250 million above the request, including $100 million for economic and $150 million for security assistance

EGYPT: $360 MILLION, $310 million above the request, including $50 million for economic assistance,$50 million for border security, and $260 million for security assistance

PAKISTAN:$1.9 billion,$591 million above the request

IRAQ:$968 MILLION,$336 million above the request

Oversight: $20 million,$13 million above the request, to expand oversight capacity of the State Department, USAID, and the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan to review programs in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq

Lebanon:$74 million

International Food Assistance:$500 MILLION,$200 million above the request, for PL 480 international food assistance to alleviate suffering during the global economic crisis

REFUGEE ASSISTANCE:$343 MILLION,$50 million above the request, including humanitarian assistance for Gaza.

Funding for the UN Relief and Works Agency programs in the West Bank and Gaza is limited to $119 million (Note: Gaza = Hamas)

Disaster Assistance: $200 MILLION to avert famines and provide life-saving assistance during natural disasters and for internally displaced people around the world, including Somalia, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, the Middle East and South Asia

Peacekeeping:$837 MILLION FOR UNITED NATIONS peacekeeping operations, including an expanded mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and a new mission in Chad and the Central African Republic

Department of Justice: $17 million, matching the request, for counter-terrorism activities and to provide training and assistance for the Iraqi criminal justice system

OBAMA GIVES YOUR TAX DOLLARS TO REBUILD MUSLIM MOSQUES AROUND THE WORLD! http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/... #

ACCORDING TO THE ASSOCIATED PRESS, THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION WILL GIVE AWAY NEARLY $6 MILLION OF AMERICAN TAX DOLLARS TO RESTORE 63 HISTORIC AND CULTURAL SITES, INCLUDING ISLAMIC MOSQUES AND MINARETS, IN 55 NATIONS. See the State Department document here. http://exchanges.state.gov/media/pdfs/office-...

And THAT’S just the tip of the iceberg.

THIS will blow your mind!! http://gbk.eads.usaidallnet.gov/ They should have 2010 up, but they don’t. That’s where you’ll find Obama’s largesse towards Muslim countries really go off the charts.

Sensible?

Like others have posted, if it isn’t in A1S8, it get the axe. Balancing would be a breeze and 1 yr.

It is relatively painless to cut $1 TRILLION out of the budget. Energy, Labor, Education & HHS - all gone. No foreign aid to anybody; no block grants; severe cutbacks in TSA, EPA and OSHA. Retire half the generals and admirals in the Pentagon. Reduce Congressional staffs and pay.

“Paul Ryan Working on a Budget That Balances in 10 Years”

Not something you would want on your resume if you were applying for the position of CFO or financial planner with a Fortune 500 company or to operate a lemonade stand for that matter.

Paul Ryan Working on a Budget That Balances in 10 Years

100% complete fraud. Based on estimates that will NOT hold over the next 10 years. I'd be willing to be an ounce of silver that the United States will have breakaway states in the next 10 years. I'd be willing to bet the Federal Reserve interest rate will exceed 10% in 10 years.

NOTHING he is working with now has the ability to be projected out 10 years.

It is all nonsense, smoke and mirrors.
