He lauded the right of millions of Americans who live in semi-developed or rural areas to defend themselves, a concept lost on (sub)urbanites trained to dial 911. More to the point, he declared, "The [Constitution] says what it says. The right to bear arms shall not be infringed. If you cant live with that, then you shouldnt be trying to be an American citizen."
The quotes were from a TV interview with Tom Brokaw. I heard them at the time of broadcast many years ago and was quite taken aback. It explained why at that time the only 20 and 30 round mags for Mini 14s were aftermarket products (and junk to boot).
