Sen. John McCain supports allowing women in combat, but says it remains critical for the military to uphold the same high standards that made it the strongest in the world.

On Wednesday, outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta announced that women will be permitted in combat, potentially opening hundreds of thousands of front-line positions and elite Special Forces jobs to women as well as men. …

“I respect and support Secretary Panetta’s decision to lift the ban on women serving in combat,” McCain said. “The fact is that American women are already serving in harm’s way today all over the world and in every branch of our armed forces. Many have made the ultimate sacrifice, and our nation owes them a deep debt of gratitude.” …

The next 'man' we fight may not be cave dwelling throwbacks...

They won't be impressed by how egalitarian our military is. Not one bit

So true...That's how empires are lost....

This is about destroying the military warrior culture. Nothing more. And, it will.

Second that. The quislings at Fox News (Napolitano, Krauthammer and Kristen or Kirsten whomever) are somehow of the opinion that the military is so efficient and straight arrow that they will not actually allow women in combat situations where they will be at a disadvantage physically. I guess they’ve never heard of dual standards for physical strength for men and women. Then they paraded a military chick who said that women were as strong as men. I feel like I’ve been teleported to an alternate universe where free thinking people have been traded for androids with talking points instead of brains. The ONLY reason for these very profound changes in the military (repeal of DADT and women in combat) is that there are very influential people in this country and elsewhere who are working to weaken and divide our military. Anyone who protests will be hounded out and shamed. Yet now we have record high sexual assault and unplanned pregnancies within the ranks, and somehow none of the networks will cover that. I’m a vet, as is my spouse, and we have been a military family but I would NEVER encourage anyone to join the military today. They will use you up and ask for your soul besides. They’ve done it before.
