Efforts to eliminate pork and offset spending from the Hurricane Sandy relief package failed ...
...
Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-NJ) offered another amendment that added $33.7 billion ... the Frelinghuysen amendment. According to Patrick Louis Knudsen of the Heritage Foundation:
One of the most stunning elements in the amendment is $16 billion for the Community Development Block Grant, a slush fund that states and localities can hand out pretty much anywhere they choose. The amendment contains several pages of language ostensibly aimed at restricting use of the funds, but also says they can be applied to other eligible events in calendar years 2011, 2012, and 2013. Its just a guess, but events in 2011 and 2013 are not likely the result of Hurricane Sandy. This is the kind of spending that helps unravel coherent budgeting and contributes to chronic, trillion-dollar deficits.

And Republicans passed it, no questions asked.
I didn’t leave the Republican Party. The Republican Party left me.
Tell me again why I carry just about every type of insurance on my dwelling that I can?
A big majority of our GOP reps voted against it.
This was another treacherous move by leadership and passing a bill with Democrat votes and 50 or so Republicans

Primary them all out if this allowed to stand. They know how to get rid of this.
And the latest darling Christie saw nothing wrong with it - just “show me the money!”
The bill included $150 million for Alaskan fisheries, $330 million for Amtrak, $2 million to the Smithsonian Institute , $600 million to the Environmental Protection Agency for climate change and $460 million to Hollywood...

The GOP leadership generally allows individual reps in reddish territories not to add in more votes for their agenda than needed to get something passed. That doesn’t mean more GOP reps aren’t playing the game with leadership, however. Witness how many supposed conservatives just voter Boehner another term.
38 Republicans voted for the Frelinghuysen Amendment.
For conservative activists looking to change how the GOP establishment operates, there is no better place to start than these members. Challenging some number of these in primaries would send a powerful message to Washington that the auction for votes needs to end.

So, all the states get a little. I can’t understand how any conservative could vote for another republican. Even the so-called “Tea Party” republicans. If they’re republicans, they’ll be told how the cows eat the cabbage once they’re in office.
I want to see how they’ll vote when theirs is the deciding vote.
