GARFIELD, Pa. —

Police said people inside of a Garfield home may have acted in self-defense when they shot an intruder Wednesday night.

Investigators said they were called to the home on Browns Way around 6 p.m.

Police said a masked man tried to force his way into the home by firing shots through the front door. Investigators said one man inside of the home was shot in the face.

According to police, another man inside of the house grabbed a gun and fired shots at the intruder, Michael Andrews, of East Hills. The second victim was also shot, police said.

Andrews, 27, later died at an area hospital.

Not easy to understand exactly what happened. The term "victim" is applied liberally.

A masked man shot his way through and those inside may have acted in self-defense...

Obviously, this was not in Texas!

It sure sounds like there were no innocents at the home.

Sounds like for some reason the guy who tried to break in wanted to kill those indside.

Just for the fun of it lets say thay were all guilty of something. Drug dealing or just angry at ach other.

If you are in your home and someone tries to come in shooting , even a drug dealer has the right to defend himself against being murdered doesn’t he?

Garfield is a lower-end neighborhood within the City of Pittsburgh. There is no “Garfield, PA” as the headline indicates (which the editorial staff of WPXI should know as presumably they live here).

I went for a 7 mile run Saturday evening through this, ahem, area of Pittsburgh. My friends were with me: Mr Smith & Mr Wesson

Everyday 5 to 10 stories liek this are posted on FreeRepublic, too bad the NRA does not run a series of TV ads that armed citizens, 5-10 minutes from the police help are in fact the type of milita that was considered by the Founders. Local “police” was hardly an issue of life in 1776, so an armed citizen was necessary to keep the peace in rural America.
