There actually are snow pellets though, had those this morning. Looks like snow falling, but it bounces. Roundish little pellets, like styrofoam or something. We had that in north Texas Monday before last - weird stuff. I thought a neighbor had put a ripped bean bag chair out for garbage pickup, or something - it looks just like little polystyrene beads. Unlike sleet or hail, the wind makes it move across the ground.

These people have obviously never driven in the lake effect snow areas of the north, they need to try NW Indiana or the Cleveland/Akron area. Just got back from a little cruise from Portage County to Cuyahoga up I 271-I480-I77 and back w/crazy “stuck-on-stupid” NE Ohioans trying to rear end each other at 60MPH in a snowstorm-fun for all!

We call those ground blizzards. Not a cloud in the shy and there`s actually a white light shinning but at ground level, all the snow that's not adhered to the ground is on the move with the wind, those are TONS of fun. Ever driven in a full-on 3-4 inch accumulation of freezing rain? That's a unique experience I would recommend to REAL adrenalin junkies and aficionados of terror movies, an "A ticket, white knuckle ride", thats for damn sure!

People who have never lived in these areas think stories about lake effect snows are exaggerations.

Thing is, I work in construction, hold a Class-A CDL and work in the construction/trucking industry-FOR NOW (part-time college student). During the winters I drive a plow truck. I have been out in the worst of weather that North Eastern Ohio can throw at this region for the last 8 years and while I REALLY want to move down South when I transition careers, the wimpiness of some, NOT ALL, is a bit daunting. "Get a grip, its only snow!".
