Thank you for taking the time to contact me. I appreciate the opportunity to hear from you.

In spite of the high volume of mail I receive daily, I look forward to reviewing your correspondence and providing a personal response as soon as possible.

As we continue our work in the 113th Congress, I look forward to supporting our troops in the War on Terror, repairing our economy and creating jobs, strengthening Social Security, lowering the tax burden on American families, and making the federal government more accountable and efficient.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of further assistance to you or your family, and if you need immediate assistance, please call my office at 202-224-5972. If your correspondence pertains to a scheduling request, please fax your request to (202) 224-3808.

Sincerely,

Lindsey Graham

I emailed Senator Graham urging him to oppose any and all gun control legislation.

His response doesn't even mention gun control. I bet no one even read my email.

Don’t feel bad. I’ve gotten form letter responses from emails and straight to voicemail boxes, which all appear to be full, for phone calls.

Wow! That looks exactly like the response from him when I wrote an email to him regarding Harriet Miers!

Anyways it’s good to keep sending emails. They may not respond but they do keep tabs on where the public stands on any given issue.

At the very least, it’s a poll.

I hear he’s busy investigating South Carolina public rest areas in the evening. Specifically the one’s with graffiti that say, “meet here at x time.”

I got a personal reply from Fred Thompson, but that is the only Senator I have had who spent the time trying to remain in touch. Until I was gerrymandered out, the House Reps here have also been good for that. Commie Cohen, on the other hand...

The only poll Linseed is the one located where TSgt. alluded to.

Corrected:The only poll Linseed is interested in, is the one located where TSgt. alluded to.

I used to get letter replys from Jon Kyl regularly. Some of them even addressed the subject matter I wrote him about. Now Jeff Flake has NO e-mail address so I guess that he is going to take the easy way out and just spend his time soliciting contributions toward his next election. They learn fast.

This is obviously how they spend their time in DC, in meetings deciding how to not communicate with the people they represent.

These people are too high in the food chain to be bothered.

I really believe the first thing a politician does when they enter their new office in Washington ,is get some staffer to write them a generic answer they can send out when they get mail.Any mail not only emails.

They decide what to do by speaking with the other members of the fraternity and listening to the older members telling them what to do. They never read email nor do they read the bills they vote on. In fact IMO they do nothing except sit on their ass and cast a vote once in a while. They vote how the party tells them to vote.

I get form letters too. I wonder whether my emails to my Congressman and Senators ever get read.

When Flake was my congressman I usually got a response that didn’t deal with the subject I wrote about. And now that he’s a senator he’ll probably be more *untouchable*.

That’s typical of contacting Sen. Graham. I have tried to contact his office over the past several years a few times...and have talked to others this is the way he usually responds. Form letter or a polite but the Senator is interested in your opinion...... answer to a phone call. Don’t worry hopefully we will be able to replace Grahamnesty in 2014!!!

I’m not sure they even care about where people stand on anything. I knew someone who worked for a California Assemblyman and I asked her about the emails, etc. she received. She said....I am in charge of that....delete delete delete. I asked.... well do you keep track of it? A laugh and no was the answer.
I think very few of them even care.

I’ve gotten similar responses. some aid hits the wrong button and sends a canned email on the wrong subject.

I forgot to add......I think the only thing they may listen to is when we ‘melt the lines’.

I think they all use the same templates to prepare their responses. Probably prepared for them by party hacks. The language sounds the sale or similar

There was a congressman who had about 10 standard paragraphs. The first paragraph was always the same standard BS thanking the writer for writing, blah blah blah. Then for the rest of the letter the staffer was supposed to use one or more of the other paragraphs, depending on the issue raised, or request made by the constituent. Once, the staffer apparently used the wrong paragraph(s), the recipient became suspicious and ultimately there was a big stink. I believe the congressman later lost re-election.
