A draft of the much-anticipated "assault weapon" ban bill authored by Sen. Dianne Feinstein was posted online this afternoon in advance of it's posting on the Library of Congress THOMAS legislative database site. Gun Rights Examiner has received a copy and posted it on the SCRIBD document archive site.

That is necessary because at this writing, searching for the bill on the THOMAS site retrieves a message that "The text of S.150 has not yet been received from GPO Bills are generally sent to the Library of Congress from the Government Printing Office a day or two after they are introduced on the floor of the House or Senate.

"Delays can occur when there are a large number of bills to prepare or when a very large bill has to be printed," the site advises.

Still, the THOMAS site does provide some preliminary information, notably the last major action, "1/24/2013 Referred to Senate committee. Status: Read twice and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary," and a list of the 17 co-sponsors:

Nail on the head.
Compromise will include gun registration (with a hefty annual registration tax per firearm of course) and an insane magazine limit (7 rounds or less) that leaves out not only most modern sporting rifles but most semi-auto handguns.

I complied once.

It will never happen again.

Your post #4 is pretty much spot-on. The repubs never seem to disappoint in their ability to capitulate. If the dems wanted to kill 50% of the population, the repubs would get it down to only 25% and call it a major victory and a testament to the power of effective negotiation.

How about we call it “The Law Abiding Citizens Denial of 2nd Amendment Rights Bill”?

I have coined it "The Rapist and Murderer Protection Act"

Hundreds of thousands in NYS will not comply - what makes these wannabee-tyrants like Feinstein and Obama think that tens of MILLIONS in other states will?

Molon Labe, BITCH!

“I complied once.

I didn’t comply with the NJ magazine ban (>15 rounds), and I sure as Hell won’t comply in Texas.

They put them all online but it takes a couple of days to get it done.

Precisely, our Constitution was written to protect the rights of the minority against the majority.

It’s time to declare that commie persona non grata, list her obvious treason and strip the bitch of her citizenship. Then a one-way ticket to North Korea.

I'm SOOOO proud!!! My friends have the "real thing" and I only have an M15-22 ... BUT I MADE THE LIST!!!! My peashooter is considered an Assault Weapon ... geez, I'm just like the big boys now!!!

I was shooting my "plinker" this afternoon (pop, pop, not blam, blam) and thinking how totally misguided these people are. And the best logic I've heard yet is that a 7 round clip will save children, but an 8 round clip will kill them. What'll they think of next? This government is truly being run by morons.

In Texas, there will probably be "Banned Assault Weapons" shooting matches. There could be different classes based on the number of "Feinstein Features".

If anyone wants to force compliance, well, the feral hog population is always hungry.

I don’t own any guns.

That doesn’t mean I can’t use a gun. Or have access to them.

I DO have something I think a lot of people do. In fact, all of them.

But in my case it is more active on a conscious, rather than an unconscious, or indeterminate level.
