Rest assured the standards will be lowered and the public will not be told. I understand that the tests to be a pilot were lowered and at least two women have already died.
In addition, unit cohesion will be destroyed by a "diverse military." A diverse military becomes beholden only to their Imperial benefactor for their pay and perks.(The Roman legion comes to mind.) Our soldiers will become little isolated atoms easily destroyed by a non-diverse military. One can rely on technology only so far. Further the loyalty of a "diverse" military will be to the one creating them not to the constitution. In short, Caesarism. A side effect will be ease in shooting the Amercian civilian population.
The problem is not the potential for women to perform well in war, but the mixing.
Sun Tzu, the ancient expert on war, was asked this question if women could perform as well as men in war if properly trained, and he answered in the affirmative.
In the 1890s one-third of the army of Dahomey, today Benin, were females, actually elite troops. They fought two wars against France and the Legionnaires who opposed them had high praise for the female troops, both their courage and skill.
But mixing is another story entirely.
That's a given ... no way, with very few exceptions, could a women pass the physical demands of special operations units as they currently stand. It would be the equivalent of a women making it in the NFL, NHL, or NBA ... can't happen unless the standards are lowered.
It's interesting how all this BS got started with Slick Willie (draft dodger), 'O' bummer with no military experience (his draft registration like many other documents appears to fraudulent) and Panetta with two years stateside duty in Army intelligence nearly 50 years ago.
