Puts me in a mind to march down to the French Consulate and organize a spontaneous demonstration.

Actually, its a pretty cool picture. Not surprised in the least that the usual suspects engage in sissified hand wringing over it, however.

Looks like some good low tech psy ops to me.
Warriors have been trying to make themselves appear fearsome since the days of fighting with heavy sticks.

After viewing the photo, the French Army outside Mali decided to surrender to the scary French Army forces in Mali.

If it terrifies the Wogs such warrior decorations are a thing of beauty; necklaces of ears, skulls dangling from crosses. Let the vermin know this is war the time for play is over, we are serious.

Blackwater personnel in Iraq were doing this in 2005 and on — so you scare the locals — it’s war! Last thing you want to be doing in an Islamic insurgency environment is handing out flowers...geez...the media never gets it or wants to!

This reminds me of the US journos crapping their diapers over politically incorrect slogans painted on bombs during the start-up of
Enduring Freedom. What do you think upset the Taliban more: some nasty messages on a casing they couldn't read, or getting blown to smithereens?
Only sissy/morons could possibly believe that the enemies this man is going to face are more afraid of his bandana than what he is holding in his hands -- or his will to use it.

Even the photo credit states that it was a mask ~ and it isn’t ~ !!
By virtue of flying dust caused by a helicopter , one soldier pulled up a bandana to cover his breathing .
This makes it a ‘health and safety’ issue , not a terror issue.
Maybe the French officials would have preferred he be wearing a French ‘tri-color’ bandana ,... but he wasn’t issued one.
The solder is armed and is there to eliminate an armed murderous faction of terrorists ,
and they want him to be dressed like he was going to the “French Open” (tennis match) ?
This is much ado about nothing !

Geezz...
I've worn a similar bandana I've had since the early 80's on cold or dusty rides on my Hardly Dangerous sled...
where's the beef?

Funny. The Frenchies didn’t get this worked when Ferdinand Porches little invention was tooling around La Belle France flying the swastika.
