CAIRO Egypt's president declared on Sunday a 30-day state of emergency and night curfew in the three Suez Canal provinces hit hardest by the wave of violence that has left more than 50 dead in three days.

Angry and almost screaming, Mohammed Morsi vowed in a televised address that he would not hesitate to take even more action to stem the latest eruption of violence across much of the country.

But at the same time, he sought to reassure Egyptians that his latest moves would not plunge the country back into authoritarianism.

"There is no going back on freedom, democracy and the supremacy of the law," he said.

Doesn't take much to fix this one...

"There is no going back on to freedom, democracy and the supremacy of the law," he said.

I wonder just how many tourists are wandering Egypt now? moozlums are the bane of civilization. They are peaceful up to where they kill you. I find it hard to accept that our i’m-not-a-moozlum prez is giving ,more F16s to these cromagnon morons in Egypt.

Maybe he could tackle some of those unruly mobs with his brand spankin' new F-16s?

After all, firing 20mm high explosive cannon shells into a crowd at the rate of 100 rounds per second would get a lot of these unruly folks attention. Follow that up with six 500 pound daisy cutters, and there should be no more pesky problems!

I was in Egypt in October. On the flight over there were few Americans. One U.S. Army soldier going to a base in the Sinai. When we were in Egypt we only saw one couple from the U.S. The rest of the tourists were from Europe South America and Japan. The numbers were small, the hotels and restaurants had little business.

I feel sorry for the tour guides and drivers that we dealt with. They are all hanging onto the unrealistic dream that things are going to be better this year.

I can’t help but remember when the “revolution” was taking place that the local news was interviewing people who said, all they want is democracy, just like us. We all knew that what was rolling in was worse than what they had.

I am at a loss why the Egyptian people do the logical thing and remove Morsi from office, with prejudice. To many lives needlessly lost trying to fight the Egyptian military. Address the problem directly. That’s what the US did in Iraq and Afghanistan.
